How Your Pole Dancing Party Runs

Studio Welcome and Warm-Up

You arrive at one of our partner studios, where the spinning and static poles are already rigged and safety-checked. Your instructor runs a full warm-up and safety brief, then covers grip basics before anyone leaves the ground.

Spins, Poses and Turns

Working in small groups per pole, you learn beginner spins — the fireman, the chair — plus poses and simple floorwork to link them. Every move has an easier and a bolder version, so each hen picks her own level.

The Finale and Photo Poses

The session ends with a short routine putting it all together, a filmed run-through and group photo poses on the poles. The bride gets centre pole and the biggest cheer — that is simply the rule.

Why a Pole Taster Works for a Hen Party

A pole taster earns its place on a hen weekend because it delivers something the other themes cannot: a genuine, visible achievement. Nobody expects to hold a spin on their first attempt — then somebody does, the room erupts, and suddenly everyone wants another go. It is a fitness class disguised as a party, and every fitness level and every body type gets the same buzz from it.

The session is pure beginner territory: grip, posture, the fireman and chair spins, simple floorwork and photo-ready poses, all broken down step by step by instructors who teach first-timers every week. The studio provides both spinning and static poles, and you work in small groups per pole, cheering each other on between turns — which is, honestly, at least half the fun.

Pole has long since left the stereotype behind. It has been taught as fitness since the 1990s, the first World Pole Sports Championships ran in 2012, and the discipline gained international sports-federation recognition in 2017 — while thousands of people across the UK now train at pole studios purely for the strength. Your hen party is trying a genuine sport. Giggling is optional but likely.

Strong is the whole point — a pole taster is a fitness class disguised as a party, and every body is built for it.

The Fireman Spin

The classic first spin — a knee hook, a whoosh, and the moment everyone realises they can actually do this.

The Chair Spin

Seated in mid-air with legs out — the beginner spin that looks far more advanced than it feels.

Static Pole Basics

Grip, walks and pivots on a fixed pole — where every session starts and confidence gets built.

Spinning Pole Taster

The pole turns with you, so even the simplest pose becomes cinematic. The one everyone queues for.

Floorwork and Links

Simple, elegant transitions that stitch the moves into a routine — no strength required for these.

The Group Photo Pose

Every hen on a pole for one big finale shot — the picture from the weekend that ends up framed.

Pole Facts Worth Repeating

Centuries of History

Pole descends from Chinese pole acrobatics and Mallakhamb, a traditional Indian pole discipline — both centuries old.

Fitness Since the Nineties

Canadian instructor Fawnia Mondey pioneered pole as a fitness class in the 1990s, becoming the world's first dedicated pole teacher.

A World Championship Sport

The first World Pole Sports Championships were held in 2012, with 43 athletes from 14 countries competing.

Officially Recognised

Pole sports gained observer status from the Global Association of International Sports Federations in 2017, and the UK has its own national governing body.

Pole Dancing Questions, Answered

Can the instructor come to our accommodation for this one?

Honestly, no — pole is the one theme on our list that needs a studio. Spinning and static poles have to be professionally rigged and safety-checked, so we book your group into one of our partner studios instead. We arrange the studio and the instructor; you just turn up.

How does pricing work for a pole dancing hen party?

The same flat rate as every theme: from £140 plus venue for an hour, or £165 plus venue for ninety minutes — the venue here being the partner studio, which we book for you. One price for the whole group, however many of you come.

Do we need to be strong, flexible or fit?

No. The taster is designed for complete first-timers: beginner spins take far less strength than people expect, every move has an easier option, and instructors adapt to every fitness level and body type. You will be pleasantly sore tomorrow — that is the souvenir.

What should we wear?

Shorts or leggings you can roll up, plus a t-shirt — skin grip on the pole is what makes spins work, so bare arms and lower legs genuinely help. Skip moisturiser that morning, take rings off, and bring layers for the warm-up. Trainers or bare feet both fine.
