How Your Flamenco Party Runs

Arrival, posture and palmas

Your choreographer arrives and starts with the flamenco stance — chest lifted, chin up, instant main-character energy — then palmas, the rhythmic hand claps that turn the whole group into the band. The drama begins before anyone moves a foot.

Stamps, arms and the routine

Heel stamps and carved arm lines build into a fiery routine with a centre-stage solo moment for the bride, taught in slow layers. Feet loud, arms calm, eyebrows working overtime — nobody does understatement here, and nobody should.

The olé finale

One full run-through filmed on your phones, ending with a group stamp, a snapped pose and a shouted olé. Fans and shawls, if you brought them, get their close-up.

Why Flamenco for the Hen Do?

Because flamenco hands every hen instant drama with zero experience required. It is danced solo — no partners, no lifts — and it runs on attitude: a lifted chin and a committed stamp beat perfect technique every time. There is also something wonderfully therapeutic about a room of best friends stamping in unison; brides regularly report it beats the spa day.

Your routine draws on sevillanas — the party dance of Seville's spring fair — plus heel stamps, slow carved arm lines and rhythmic palmas claps, arranged so the bride gets a solo centre moment while the group frames her. Fans, shawls and a rose between the teeth are all welcome additions if you bring them.

Flamenco also has deep roots in Britain's cultural calendar: London's annual Flamenco Festival has been filling Sadler's Wells with Spain's greatest artists for more than two decades, and every Strictly paso doble borrows flamenco's shapes and stamps. Your hen do gets the same drama on the same weekend calendar — just with more prosecco and considerably more laughing.

Chin up, heels down — flamenco is attitude you can hear.

Palmas

Flamenco's rhythmic hand claps — the group becomes its own percussion section within minutes of arriving.

Golpes

Full-foot stamps that sound far more impressive than they have any right to on day one. Deeply satisfying.

Braceo Arms

The slow, sculptural arm lines carved above the head — pure elegance, zero fitness required.

Fan & Shawl

Classic flamenco props for snaps, flicks and swirls. Bring your own and the finale video goes full Seville.

Sevillanas

The dance of Seville's feria — the friendliest flamenco style there is, and the backbone of a beginner routine.

The Olé Finale

A group stamp, a held pose, a shouted olé — the only acceptable way to end a flamenco hen party.

Flamenco Facts for the Group Chat

UNESCO-listed

In 2010, UNESCO added flamenco to its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Three arts in one

Flamenco is really cante (song), toque (guitar) and baile (dance) locked in constant conversation — your class covers the loudest third.

Andalusian born

It grew up in southern Spain from centuries of mixing — Roma, Moorish, Jewish and Spanish folk traditions all shaped it.

A London fixture

The Flamenco Festival has brought Spain's top artists to London's Sadler's Wells every year for over two decades.

Flamenco Questions, Answered

How does the pricing work for a flamenco hen party?

One flat rate for the whole group: from £140 plus venue hire for an hour, or £165 plus venue for ninety minutes. Six hens or twenty-six, the price never changes.

Can the choreographer come to our accommodation?

Yes — in every city we cover, the choreographer comes to your hotel, Airbnb or hired hall, or we can arrange a partner studio. A hard floor is ideal for stamping; your downstairs neighbours may disagree.

Do we need flamenco shoes?

No — any shoe with a firm heel works, and boots are honestly brilliant for it. Save the proper flamenco shoes for when the bride inevitably signs up for weekly classes afterwards.

None of us have danced before. Will it work?

Perfectly. Flamenco attitude is teachable in minutes even when footwork is brand new, and the routine is built in slow layers so everyone keeps up. Commitment to the drama matters far more than getting every stamp right.
