Wedding Dance Lessons in Portsmouth
Made-to-measure first dance choreography from Portsmouth's professional wedding teachers — anything from a calm, assured sway to a number the whole reception keeps talking about.
Your First Dance, Sorted Right
Choreographed to Your Track
Hand us the song and your choreographer designs to it — the tempo, the lyric everyone waits for, the beat where the phones come out. A traditional waltz or a total curveball: it is put together once, for you two alone. We teach couples marrying everywhere from the Southsea seafront to barns out across Hampshire.
Made for Total Beginners
Nearly everyone we teach turns up having never had a single lesson, and that is the whole idea: routines that read beautifully from the guest tables yet are assembled from plain, repeatable moves. Already in dance classes in Portsmouth? You will be miles ahead.
Lessons That Fit Around Portsmouth Life
One-to-one sessions at Southsea and city-centre studios, slotted around the commute and the wedding admin — evenings and weekends too — or your choreographer travels to you anywhere on Portsea Island and across SE Hampshire. Sorting a hen party too? Same choreographers, one conversation.

What We Choreograph
The couple's own moment, a parent dance, a surprise from the entire bridal party — if it belongs on the floor at a wedding, we will build it and coach it at whatever speed suits you.
The First Dance
Built from nothing around the two of you — the track you chose, the moments that matter, a routine that belongs to no other couple, whether that lands as quiet elegance or an out-and-out showstopper.

Pick a First Dance Style
The styles couples request the most — your choreographer will bend any of them to fit your track and where you are starting from.
Traditional Waltz
A timeless choice — poised, romantic and just as at ease in a Southsea hotel ballroom as under a garden marquee.
Modern Romantic
Relaxed, close movement that skips the stiff ballroom shapes — essentially the two of you, only a good deal smoother on your feet.
Latin Fusion
The heat of rumba and bachata with a hint of theatre — a closeness even the far tables pick up on.
Swing & Jive
Bright, bouncy and impossible to sit still through — the one that has half the room up dancing before the final chorus.
Dramatic Spotlight
Show-stopping lifts, drops and staged beats for couples chasing an audible gasp — engineered safely and drilled until it feels routine.
Song Transitions
Begin gently, then swerve into something no one saw coming — a multi-track mash-up with the loudest reaction-per-second of any first dance.
From the Dance Floor
Real Portsmouth couples, the day after they pulled it off.
"Josh agreed to lessons purely to keep me quiet and made no secret of dreading them. Three weeks in he was practising in the kitchen unprompted. Our teacher turned a total sceptic into someone who actually loved it."Married in Southsea
"With the date almost upon us, we were sure we'd run out of time. One well-planned session proved us wrong — we left knowing every step and, more surprisingly, actually looking forward to performing it."Last-Minute Package
"The plan was a groomsmen routine, and our abilities ranged from passable to genuinely alarming. Somehow the choreographer got all of us in sync, and the whole floor was cheering before we'd even finished."Wedding Party Choreography

First Dance Questions
The things couples nearly always want to know before booking wedding dance lessons in Portsmouth — nerves, timing, choosing a track and where it all takes place.
Can wedding dance lessons in Portsmouth help two people with genuinely no rhythm?
Exactly the couple these lessons are made for — most people we teach have never set foot in a dance class. Your choreographer assembles steps that look trickier than they really are, broken into tiny sections and repeated until they run themselves, jitters and all.
How far ahead of the wedding should we start first dance lessons in Portsmouth?
Eight to twelve weeks before the day tends to be the sweet spot — a lesson every week or so with a bit of practice in between. Cut it fine? Our Last Minute two-hour intensive has bailed out couples down to their final fortnight, and we can often slot it in that same week.
Can we pick absolutely any track for the first dance?
Whatever track means something to you. Send it across and we choreograph to its rhythm and its standout moments; run too long and we edit it down to a length you can dance to. Not settled on one? Your choreographer will hand you a shortlist to match the style you have in mind.
Can you choreograph the father-daughter or mother-son dance as well?
Yes to all of them, not only the couple's spot. Dads-and-daughters, mums-and-sons, whole bridal-party numbers and secret surprise routines come through regularly, charged at the very same per-lesson rate, in our studios or out at your venue.
What happens if one of us is quietly dreading it?
So common it is practically the norm. Every lesson is one-to-one, with no class and nobody watching, so your choreographer can pitch the pace to whoever is the more anxious of you. By the second lesson the dread has usually flipped into quiet showing off.
Whereabouts in Portsmouth do the wedding dance lessons happen?
Private studios around Southsea and the city centre, timetabled to suit your week — evenings and weekends too — or your choreographer will head to your home or venue anywhere on Portsea Island and across SE Hampshire. Plenty of couples add a final run-through at the reception venue itself.
