Wedding Dance Lessons in Brighton

Made-to-measure first-dance choreography from Brighton and Hove's own wedding teachers — anywhere from a calm, unshowy sway to a routine the seafront reception is still talking about at breakfast.

Your First Dance, Done Properly

Choreography Built to Your Song

Hand the choreographer your song and the whole thing is built outward from it — the tempo, the line that gives you goosebumps, the beat where every phone comes up. A formal waltz or a swerve nobody expects, it is drawn up once, for the two of you and no one else. We take couples marrying anywhere from the Brighton register office to a barn up near Lewes.

Built for Beginners

Barely anyone arrives able to dance, which is the entire point of how the routines are put together: big from the top table, but broken into small pieces you can actually hold on to. If you are already in dance classes in Brighton, you will be miles ahead.

Lessons That Fit Brighton Life

Sessions happen at a private studio in the centre of Brighton, fitted around work and the endless wedding list — evenings and weekends too — or the teacher drives out to you across Hove, Shoreham and the coast. Also pulling together a hen party? Same team, one conversation.

Choose Your Dance Style

The first-dance styles we get asked for most — your choreographer will bend any one of them around your track and how confident you feel.

Traditional Waltz

The evergreen choice — poised, romantic and just as happy in a grand hotel ballroom as under canvas out on the Downs.

Modern Romantic

Relaxed, close movement that skips the stiff ballroom shapes — for couples who would rather look like themselves, only smoother.

Latin Fusion

Rumba-and-bachata warmth with a flick of drama — the sort of connection the far tables clock straight away.

Swing & Jive

Quick, sunny and impossible not to grin at — the style that empties the chairs before the track is even done.

Dramatic Spotlight

Lifts, drops and staged beats for couples chasing a gasp — assembled safely and rehearsed until they are bombproof.

Song Transitions

Ease in, then hairpin into something unexpected — a multi-track number with the most reaction packed into the fewest seconds.

From the Dance Floor

Brighton and Hove couples talking about their first dances.

"Walking into the decorated room for the first look completely floored us — suddenly the dance felt real. But the steps were so drilled in by then that our nerves melted, and we actually enjoyed our own first dance. Rare, apparently."
Priyanka & Joel Married in Kemptown
"With barely a week left we assumed we'd just shuffle and hope. One focused session changed that entirely — we walked out with a real routine and, more surprisingly, the confidence to actually sell it. Best decision we made all week."
Georgia & Ade Last-Minute Package
"Getting a room of groomsmen to move together felt impossible — one of us genuinely can't count to eight. The teacher broke it into chunks anyone could hold, and when we ambushed the groom mid-reception, his double-take alone was worth it."
Elliot, best man Wedding Party Choreography

Where We Teach in Brighton

Private studios where you can rehearse without an audience — or we come to your home or venue.

Central Brighton Studios

Central Brighton

Session-by-session partner rooms around the town centre and the North Laine, where you rehearse with nobody watching — the exact studio is named when you book, and it sits centrally rather than out at the Marina. Get in touch to check availability for your dates.

We Come to You

Anywhere across Brighton & Hove

Your living room, a hired hall or the reception venue itself — lots of couples keep the final rehearsal for the actual boards they will dance on come the day. Ask us about travel slots along the coast.

Wedding Dance FAQ

The usual worries couples raise before they book a first dance in Brighton — nerves, how long it takes, picking a track and where it all happens.

Neither of us can dance — is this really going to work?

They are built for exactly that. The overwhelming majority of couples we see have never danced, so the choreographer leans on moves that look trickier than they are and repeats them in short blocks until your feet stop asking your brain for help.

How soon before the wedding should we start?

Two or three months ahead is the sweet spot — one lesson a week or fortnight with a bit of practice wedged in between. Down to the wire? A two-hour intensive has carried couples over the line with fourteen days left.

Does it have to be a particular kind of song?

Bring whatever means something to you. The routine forms around that track's pace and its peaks, and if it overstays we trim it to a length you can hold. Still deciding? The choreographer will float a few options to suit the feel you want.

Can you do parent dances and big group numbers too?

Absolutely — the couple's dance is only the headline. Father-daughter and mother-son spots, plus secret whole-party routines, are bread-and-butter bookings, charged at the same per-session rate, in a studio or at your venue.

One of us is quietly terrified — will that be OK?

More normal than you would think. It is just the two of you and the teacher, no class and no spectators, and the pace is set by whichever of you is shakier. Most of the terrified ones are grinning by lesson two.

Where do the lessons actually take place?

At central Brighton studios slotted around your week, evenings and weekends included, or with the choreographer coming to your place or your venue right along the Hove, Shoreham and Sussex-coast stretch. A last run on the venue's own floor is a favourite finishing touch.
