How Your ABBA Party Runs

Arrival and Warm-Up

Your choreographer meets you at a partner studio or your accommodation, gets the group giggling through a quick warm-up, and finds out which ABBA songs the bride cannot resist.

Learning the Routine

The routine is taught in short, repeatable sections — group formations, spins and plenty of disco pointing — so complete beginners keep pace with the friend who never left the dance floor.

The Filmed Finale

The session ends with a full run-through filmed for the group chat. Fair warning: plenty of brides insist on a repeat performance at the wedding reception.

Why an ABBA Hen Party?

Some themes need selling; ABBA does not. Every generation at the hen do — school friends, sisters, mums, the future mother-in-law — knows these songs inside out, so nobody stands at the edge waiting for a track they recognise. Add sequins, flares and platform boots, and you have a theme that photographs brilliantly and gets the whole room singing before the routine has even started.

Your choreographer builds the routine on classic ABBA staging: two-at-the-front formations, mirrored arm lines, disco points and a proper chorus-line finish. It is taught in short, repeatable sections, so complete beginners keep up with the friend who does Zumba twice a week. Expect drama, expect camp, and expect the bride front and centre for the final chorus.

Britain has always half-owned ABBA. They won Eurovision on our soil in 1974, Mamma Mia! has been packing out the West End since 1999, and ABBA Voyage keeps selling out in east London. ABBA Gold has now spent more than 1,000 weeks on the UK albums chart — proof, if any were needed, that this theme will never feel dated at a hen party.

The only theme where the mother of the bride knows the routine before the class starts.

Dancing Queen

The 1976 number one and the non-negotiable finale — arms out, heads back, full chorus-line formation.

Waterloo

The Eurovision winner that started it all in Brighton — stomping glam-rock energy for a high-tempo opening.

Mamma Mia

Instantly recognisable from the first bars, with plenty of dramatic hands-on-heart choreography to play with.

Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)

Late-night disco drama — the moody strut section your choreographer will milk for everything.

Voulez-Vous

Pure Saturday-night disco: sharp group formations and a call-and-response feel made for a big group.

Super Trouper

The spotlight moment — the bride centre stage while the rest of the group circles her for the final pose.

ABBA Facts Worth Repeating

Crowned in Brighton

ABBA won Eurovision for Sweden in 1974 at the Brighton Dome with Waterloo — Britain saw them arrive before almost anyone else.

1,000 Weeks on the Chart

In 2021 ABBA Gold became the first album ever to spend 1,000 weeks on the UK albums chart. It is also the UK's second best-selling album of all time.

West End Royalty

Mamma Mia! opened in London's West End in 1999 and turned ABBA's back catalogue into one of the most successful stage musicals in the world.

The Voyage Continues

ABBA Voyage opened in east London in May 2022, with digital versions of the band performing to packed houses ever since.

ABBA Questions, Answered

How much does an ABBA hen party dance class cost?

One flat rate for the whole group: from £140 plus venue hire for a one-hour class, or £165 plus venue for ninety minutes. Six hens or twenty-six, the price stays the same — no per-person maths, no penalty if someone drops out.

Can the choreographer come to our accommodation?

Yes. In every city we cover, your choreographer can teach at your hotel, Airbnb or a hired hall — or at one of our partner studios if you would rather travel. Most groups staying together for the weekend choose the come-to-you option.

Do we need any dance experience?

None at all. ABBA routines are taught in short, repeatable sections, so complete beginners keep up comfortably. The aim is a room full of laughter and a finale worth filming, not technical perfection.

Are costumes and props provided?

No — we bring the choreographer and the routine, you bring the sparkle. Groups usually source their own flares, sequins and feather boas online, and the class is all the better for it. Dressing up is optional, but almost universal.
