I organised my own hen — bride privilege — and picked the 90s theme at our Topsham cottage. It rained all day and it genuinely did not matter: the choreographer brought the entire party indoors with her, and our finale video has outlasted most of the marriage admin.
Bryony Yeandle The bride, ExeterDance Classes & Hen Parties in Exeter
Twenty styles of weekly classes, 38+ themed hen parties and wedding first dances — taught by professional choreographers in the cathedral city, from the Queen Street quarter out across Devon.
Pick a Hen Party Theme. We Build the Routine.
A hen party dance class in Exeter begins with picking the bride's theme — ABBA, Beyoncé, Thriller, any of 38+ — and ends ninety-odd minutes later with the whole group performing a routine that did not exist at breakfast.
A professional choreographer teaches every step at a private central studio near Gandy Street, or travels to your cottage, hotel or Airbnb anywhere in Devon. One flat rate covers the whole group.
Routine in the afternoon, Gandy Street cocktails by evening, and an encore performance at the wedding months later — that is an Exeter hen weekend done properly.
One Flat Price. No Per-Head Maths.
Hen pricing usually runs per person, so the bill twitches every time the group list changes. Ours does not: one fixed figure for the whole party, and a cousin dropping out on Thursday changes nothing but the formation.

Learn the routine together
Every step arrives in short, beginner-sized blocks — nobody is left at the back, and nobody gets to hide there either.
-
Perform it — maybe twice
The final run-through is filmed for the group chat, and a healthy share of routines resurface at the reception.

Questions, Answered
What Exeter asks before booking — studios, pricing, ability and notice. For anything else, the enquiry forms reach us within one working day.
Where in Exeter do the classes and hen parties run?
Partner studios sit centrally around the Queen Street and Gandy Street quarter, a few minutes from Exeter Central. For hen parties and private sessions the choreographer also travels to your hotel, cottage or Airbnb anywhere across Exeter and Devon.
How does the flat-rate hen party pricing work in Exeter?
The whole group dances on one figure — £140 plus venue for the hour, £165 plus venue for ninety minutes — from five hens up to thirty. Nobody recalculates anything when the numbers shift.
How much are the weekly dance classes?
Every class is £8 however you take it — single drop-in or four-week block, all twenty styles. There are no joining fees or contracts, so trying salsa this week and ballet next costs precisely £16.
Do I need any dance experience?
No — every style runs a genuine beginner level, and hen routines assume half the room last danced at a school disco. Our choreographers specialise in exactly that starting point.
Who teaches for Dance Centre UK in Exeter?
Professional dancers and choreographers who train, perform and teach across the South West. Anyone teaching children holds a current DBS check as standard.
How far ahead should we book?
Weekly classes can usually be joined the same week. Hen parties are safest booked a few months out for summer Saturdays — Devon's wedding-season weekends fill early — and couples should start first-dance lessons two to three months before the day.
What Our Dancers Say
Hen parties, first dances and weekly classes across the city and county.
The Thursday heels class near Queen Street has quietly become the highlight of my week. I turned up in trainers, terrified, and eight weeks later I walk into Monday meetings like they are a runway. Nobody at work knows why.
Marcus Veale Weekly student, ExeterWe hired a folk band for our barn wedding, then panicked that our routine would not survive live tempo. Our choreographer rebuilt it to breathe with the music instead of counting against it — and on the night the band sped up and it simply did not matter.
