Class Structure
Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Warm up with attitude
An energising warm-up woven through with basic hand gestures, expressions and simple footwork, setting the bright Bollywood tone from the off.
The signature moves
We drill the building blocks — head tilts, shoulder and hip accents, spins and open-armed lines — the vocabulary every film routine is made from.
Learning the routine
A full Bollywood number, taught section by section to a classic or current Hindi-film track, with character built in from the start.
Bringing the story
We add the expression, the drama and the joy — the storytelling that turns choreography into a proper Bollywood performance.
Full number and cool down
The whole routine, full-energy, with the group together, then a proper stretch and a breather to recover.
About Bollywood Classes in Oxford
Bollywood dance is the big, joyful movement of Hindi cinema — a mash-up of classical Indian forms, Punjabi folk, film-song glamour and a good dash of hip-hop, all held together by expression and story. Every routine says something: the eyes, the hands and the grin do as much work as the feet. Our Bollywood classes in Oxford teach it the way the films do, in energetic group choreography you pick up a section at a time.
East Oxford and the Cowley Road have long given the city its most colourful cultural mix, and Bollywood fits straight into it — music that spills out of the shops and celebrations that pull everyone in. What has been harder to find is a regular, come-as-you-are class where you can actually learn the moves rather than just watch. That is the gap this fills.
No experience and no coordination required — the energy matters far more than precision, and you will spend most of the hour smiling. Classes are £8 on the night with nothing to join, taught across Oxford and Oxfordshire, from Cowley and Headington out to Kidlington and Bicester.

Why Choose Bollywood in Oxford?
Joy over precision
This is the most forgiving class we run — the energy and the grin carry it, so nobody is fretting about perfect lines.
A genuine workout
All that jumping, spinning and full-armed movement is brilliant cardio; you will be warm and glowing long before the cool-down.
Made for groups
Bollywood is built for dancing together, which makes it a favourite for friends, birthdays and hen dos as well as regulars.
£8, pay as you go
One flat price a class on the night — no membership, no term fee and no reason not to just try it once.
Your Bollywood Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
Your first classes
Steps and smiles
Early sessions pair simple footwork with the expressions and hand gestures — because in Bollywood the face is part of the choreography from day one.
What to wear
Comfortable clothes you can really move and sweat in, and trainers with a bit of grip. Bring water; you will need it.
Getting the vocabulary
The moves land
Head tilts, hip accents and open-armed lines stop feeling separate and start flowing together into recognisable Bollywood shapes.
Picking up routines
You get quicker at learning choreography by section, and at holding on to it from one week to the next.
Finding the character
Expression switches on
The drama, the flirtation and the joy get layered over the steps, which is when a routine stops looking like a drill.
Dancing as one
The group starts hitting the accents together, and the formations click into the big, unified look the films are famous for.
The full number
A routine to keep
You finish able to dance a complete Bollywood number, full-out and from memory — a genuinely brilliant party trick.
Where it leads
Some go looking for performances and community showcases; many just come back for the weekly hit of joy. Either way you win.
Bollywood in Oxford FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Do I need any dance experience to join? +
Not in the slightest. Bollywood is for everyone, and this class starts from the basics — all you need to bring is energy and a willingness to smile.
I have no coordination — is that okay? +
Completely okay, and very common. Bollywood forgives a lot because the spirit of it matters more than sharp technique; we teach routines slowly, section by section, and repeat plenty. Most people who arrive convinced they cannot dance are grinning and keeping up within the first half hour.
How much is a class? +
£8 per session, paid on the night. There is no membership, no block and no contract.
What should I wear? +
Loose, comfortable clothes you can move and sweat in, plus trainers with some grip. Bring water — this one gets the heart going.
Is it a good workout? +
Very much so. Between the jumps, spins and non-stop arm work it is proper cardio, which is part of why people keep coming back.
Can we book it for a hen do or birthday? +
Yes — Bollywood is one of our most popular group and hen-party choices. Ask us about a private session for your group anywhere across Oxford and Oxfordshire.
Will we learn real film choreography? +
Yes — we teach in the Bollywood film style, set to well-known Hindi-film tracks, complete with the expressions, hand gestures and group formations the movies are known for.
Where in Oxford are the classes? +
Around the central George Street area and on the East Oxford / Cowley Road side, with the studio confirmed when you book — always easy to reach by bus or Park & Ride.
How often should I come? +
Once a week is ideal for holding on to routines and building stamina. Like anything, it sticks faster the more regularly you turn up.
