Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

First 10 min

Warming Up Properly

Pole is demanding on the shoulders, wrists and core, so we warm and mobilise thoroughly before anyone touches the pole. Skipping this is how people get sore; we do not skip it.

10–24 min

Grip, Stance & First Spins

You meet the pole with the basics — hand grips, a confident walk around it, and your first controlled spin. The aim is control, never speed.

24–38 min

Strength & Holds

Simple holds and supported positions build the pulling and gripping strength everything else stands on. You work at your own pace, always.

38–50 min

Linking Movement

Spins and steps join into short flowing sequences, so it starts to feel like dancing around the pole rather than a set of isolated tricks.

50–60 min

Cool Down & Stretch

We finish with a thorough stretch for the shoulders, back and hands — the recovery that keeps you coming back without aches.

About Pole Dance Classes in Gloucester

Pole is strength training disguised as dancing. Our Gloucester beginners' classes start from genuinely zero — how to hold, how to walk the pole, your first spin — and build the grip, core and shoulder strength underneath it gradually. Progress is quick and strangely addictive; most people are surprised how much they can do within a few weeks.

There is a fitting local echo to it. Gloucester's inland Docks were built on lifting, hauling and gripping — the warehouse cranes and lock gates ran on exactly the kind of upper-body graft pole rewards. It is the same honest, working-strength story Flashdance told: real physical effort turned into something you actually want to watch.

Because pole needs a rigged, properly-equipped studio — poles fixed securely into floor and ceiling with matting around them — we run these classes in a room kitted specifically for it, and confirm the exact venue when you book rather than moving them around. It is a flat £8 per session with nothing to sign, and no strength or experience is assumed on day one.

Why Choose Pole Dance in Gloucester?

Real, Usable Strength

Pole builds functional grip, core and upper-body strength fast — the kind you notice in everyday life, not just in class.

Confidence That Carries

Pulling off something you thought impossible does remarkable things for how you hold yourself outside the studio too.

Taught Safely

Thorough warm-ups, matting and a go-at-your-pace approach mean you build up sensibly, without the injuries that come from rushing.

Everyone Starts at Zero

You do not need to arrive strong or flexible. The class assumes none of it and builds both from your very first session.

Your Pole Dance Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

01

First Sessions

What you'll do

Grips, a confident walk around the pole and your first supported spin. Small wins that add up faster than you expect.

What to wear

Shorts and a fitted top — bare skin on arms and legs is what lets you grip. Skip oils and lotions on the day; they stop the grip working.

02

Building Strength

The engine underneath

Holds and supported positions steadily grow the pulling and gripping strength that unlocks everything else.

Confidence on the pole

Spins get smoother and more controlled as trust in your own grip builds week on week.

03

Starting to Flow

Linking it up

Spins and floorwork connect into short sequences, so it reads as dance rather than separate moves.

Adding style

Pointed toes, controlled transitions and a bit of attitude turn raw strength into performance.

04

Going Further

A regular practice

Most people settle into a weekly class as strength and repertoire keep climbing.

Where it can lead

Toward harder spins, inverts once you are ready, and combinations you would never have believed on day one.

Pole Dance in Gloucester FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Do I need to be strong or flexible to start? +

No. Beginners' pole is designed for people with no strength or flexibility base — both are built gradually and safely from your first class.

How much does it cost? +

A flat £8 per session, paid on the day, with no membership or contract of any kind.

What should I wear? +

Shorts and a fitted top, because bare skin on your arms and legs is what grips the pole. Avoid moisturiser or oils on class day as they ruin the grip.

Where are the classes held? +

In a studio properly rigged for pole, with the exact venue confirmed when you book. Because the equipment has to be fixed and matted, we do not move these sessions around.

Is pole a good workout? +

Exceptionally. It builds real grip, core and upper-body strength quickly, and most people find it far more engaging than any gym session.

Can complete beginners really join? +

Absolutely — that is who the class is for. Every session starts from grips and a first spin and assumes no prior experience.

Is it safe? +

Yes, when taught properly. We warm up thoroughly, use matting, keep everything at your own pace and only progress to harder moves once you are ready.

Do I need to bring anything? +

Just water and clothing you can grip in. Everything else, including the poles and matting, is provided at the studio.

How do I book? +

Send your details through the form on this page and we will reply with current class times, the studio location and how to reserve your place.
