Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0–10 mins

Wake the Grip

We mobilise the wrists, shoulders and lats that do pole's heavy lifting and switch the core on, so the first time you take hold of the bar it feels solid rather than shaky.

10–25 mins

Spin From the Walk

Fireman, chair and step-arounds begin from a simple walk around the pole, driven by momentum and timing — you're turning smoothly long before anyone talks about lifting off the floor.

25–40 mins

Carry Your Weight

Climbs, seats and basic holds get added one by one with a coach right beside you, and no shape is asked of you until the muscles to hold it are honestly there.

40–50 mins

Thread It Together

The separate spins and poses get laced across a snippet of music with a little floorwork between them, so isolated tricks begin to read as a phrase rather than a checklist.

50–60 mins

Free Pole and Stretch

A short open-pole spell lets you replay whatever clicked, then a deliberate stretch through the shoulders, wrists and hamstrings that carried the load.

About Pole Dance Classes in Leicester

Pole is a genuine athletic discipline — strength, precise control and expression meeting on a vertical bar. Our pole dance classes in Leicester take you from a first standing spin through climbs and sits and, in time, towards inversions, along a graded route where clean technique and steady, honest progress count for far more than rushing the flashy shapes.

Leicester has no shortage of gyms, but tuition that treats the pole as a performance craft rather than a fitness gadget is rarer. Our partner studios — rigged with proper static and spin poles — sit in the city centre and the Cultural Quarter, minutes from the station on foot, so you're not chasing kerb space around the pedestrianised Lanes.

You don't bring the strength, the flexibility or a dancing past — all of it is built here over the weeks. Dress in shorts and a close top so bare skin can hold the pole, and on a class day skip lotions, tan and rings; anything that makes you slippery works against you on a spinning bar.

Why Choose Pole Dance in Leicester?

Built, Not Brought

Not one person walks in already strong enough for this — the arms, back and midsection come from the practice, and a move that looked hopeless at first tends to feel ordinary within a couple of months.

Safety Runs the Room

Conditioning comes before tricks and a coach spots every new shape, which keeps things sensible and truthful — the strains people pick up by rushing simply don't get a chance here.

Not Just a Trick List

You pick up choreography, floorwork and how to ride the music right next to the spins, so what you leave with is something performable — not just a scrapbook of isolated party tricks.

Wins You Can Point At

The milestones are impossible to miss — your first proper climb, the first time you turn upside down — and when you fancy an audience for one, Leicester's studio showcases are the place.

Your Pole Dance Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Week 1–4

Grounded Spins

Feet stay down

The first weeks live at floor level — spins from a walk, grip and posture, learning to trust your hands on the bar.

Waking the muscles

Conditioning quietly starts building the shoulders and core you'll lean on later, without you really noticing it happening.

Month 2–3

Leaving the Floor

First climbs

You start taking your own weight — a climb, a sit, a short hold — each one added only once your body is ready for it.

Small inversions

Where it's safe and spotted, the first upside-down moments arrive, and the fear of them shrinks faster than you'd expect.

Month 4–6

Making Sequences

Linking moves

Individual tricks get joined across a bar of music with floorwork between, so it begins to look like dancing rather than drills.

Your phrasing

You start choosing how a move lands against the beat, which is where technique tips over into something that reads as expression.

Month 6+

Strong in the Air

Bigger shapes

Inversions, longer combinations and cleaner lines come within reach, built on the strength the earlier months quietly laid down.

Perform if you like

A studio showcase is there whenever you want to dance a routine for a room, though plenty are happy just to keep training.

Pole Dance in Leicester FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Do I need to be strong or have danced before to start pole? +

Neither. Everyone begins from a standing spin, and the strength is something the classes build in you rather than something you bring. Complete beginners with no dance background are exactly who these sessions are designed for.

Whereabouts in Leicester are the pole classes, and why studio-only? +

Pole needs a properly rigged setup, so it's studio-only — our partner studios in the city centre and Cultural Quarter are fitted with professional static and spin poles. You'll get the exact address when you book; the centre is a short walk from the station.

Why is pole studio-only when your other classes come to you? +

A pole has to be clamped tight between a solid floor and ceiling on a proper fixing, which a carpeted lounge or a hotel function room simply can't provide. It's a plain safety call, not an upsell.

How much does a pole class in Leicester cost? +

A drop-in is £8, with blocks coming down in price once the weekly timetable settles. A session can only hold as many dancers as there are poles, so booking a spot ahead is just sensible.

What should I wear for pole? +

Shorts and a fitted top — bare skin on the arms and legs is what grips the pole. Skip moisturiser, oil, fake tan and jewellery on class days, and bring a small towel; slippery skin and a spinning bar don't get on.

Will I be covered in bruises? +

The odd 'pole kiss' is normal at first, especially on the shins and insteps, and it fades fast as your skin and grip toughen up. It's a rite of passage rather than a warning sign, and it settles within a few weeks.

Is this pole fitness or pole dancing? +

Pole dancing. Strength and conditioning are built in because the moves demand them, but we teach the pole as a performance art — with spins, lines, floorwork and phrasing — rather than as a set of gym reps.

Can men and total beginners join? +

Absolutely. Classes are mixed and open to every body, and the majority of people in a beginners' room have never touched a pole. You'll be in good, similarly nervous company on your first night.

Do you run pole hen parties or private sessions in Leicester? +

We do — pole hen parties and private group bookings run at the rigged partner studios, since pole can't travel to a venue. Tell us your date and numbers and we'll sort a session; it's a popular Leicester hen choice.
