Class Structure
Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Cardio & Isolations
A sweat-raising warm-up that moves straight into isolations — chest, shoulders, hips — the control that makes commercial choreography look sharp instead of busy.
Grooves & Technique
Foundation grooves, direction changes and picking up counts at speed — the core skill of commercial dance is learning choreography fast, and it is entirely trainable.
The Routine
The heart of the class: a chart-track routine built eight counts at a time, layering the week's technique into something that looks like the video.
Clean & Perform
Slowing the routine down to sharpen angles and timing, then adding performance — facials, attack and intent — before bringing it back up to tempo.
Groups & Cool-Down
Smaller groups run the routine for each other with full energy — the friendliest audience you will ever have — followed by a stretch-down.
About Commercial Classes in Glasgow
Commercial is the style behind music videos, tours and TV performances — a magpie blend of hip-hop, jazz and street with the polish turned all the way up. Our commercial dance classes in Glasgow teach routine-first: you learn choreography the way working dancers do, counted, cleaned and performed, with technique smuggled in along the way.
Glasgow has one of the strongest studio and battle scenes in Scotland, and it shows in the room — expect a mix of total beginners, returners and dancers sharpening up between projects. Sessions run at partner studios in the Merchant City and Finnieston, both a few minutes from a Subway stop and an easy walk from Glasgow Central.
Trains beat driving here: the city-centre Low Emission Zone rules out many older cars, and Central and Queen Street stations deliver dancers in from Edinburgh, Stirling and across the west of Scotland every week. Turn up in trainers, pay £8 on the door, and learn the routine.

Why Choose Commercial in Glasgow?
Straight Off the Screen
Routines are set to current chart and throwback tracks, in the style used on real video and tour stages — this is the class for dancing like the telly.
Pick-Up Speed
Learning choreography quickly is a skill in itself. Weekly routines train your memory and musicality until eight-counts stick on the second look.
A Scene, Not Just a Class
Glasgow's commercial and street community is among the strongest in Scotland — classmates become crew-mates, and the city's events are the next step.
Perform From Week One
Every session ends with group run-throughs, so performing stops being scary through sheer familiarity — confidence by repetition.
Your Commercial Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
Learn to Learn
Getting Started
Your first full routines, taught slowly, with the grooves and isolations underneath explained rather than assumed.
What to Wear
Trainers, joggers or leggings, and layers you can shed — commercial classes run warm by the second track.
Sharpen the Lines
Technique
Cleaner isolations, quicker pick-up, and routines that switch style week to week — sassy one session, hard-hitting the next.
Performance
Facials and intent become part of the choreography rather than an optional extra — the difference between doing the moves and selling them.
Find Your Range
Versatility
Handling whatever the week throws at you — slinky grooves, tutting details, big stage-shape choreography — and noticing which suits you best.
Confidence
Front-row runs, small-group performances and the odd filmed routine for your own camera roll.
Stage-Ready
Advanced Practice
Faster sets, longer routines and choreography taught at the pace working dancers rehearse it.

Commercial in Glasgow FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Where in Glasgow are the commercial dance classes held? +
At partner studios in the Merchant City and over towards Finnieston — you get the exact address when you book. Both bases are minutes from the Subway loop and walkable from Glasgow Central, which matters for a class you will mostly attend after work.
What does a commercial dance class in Glasgow cost? +
£8 per drop-in class — no joining fee, no contract. Once your nearest studio's timetable is fixed, discounted block bookings become available too.
I have never danced — is commercial too fast for me? +
No. Beginner sessions teach every routine in slow layers before speeding up, and picking up choreography is a trained skill, not a talent you either have or lack. Give it four weeks and your pick-up speed will surprise you.
What do I wear to commercial dance classes? +
Trainers with decent grip, plus joggers or leggings and a breathable top. Commercial is the sweatiest class on our Glasgow timetable, so bring water and a layer to peel off.
What is the difference between commercial and street dance classes? +
Street dance classes work through the foundation styles — locking, popping, breaking, house — as living cultures. Commercial borrows from all of them and aims squarely at the stage and screen: polished routines to chart music. Plenty of Glasgow dancers do both.
What music do you use in class? +
Current chart, R&B, pop and throwback tracks — the songs you would actually hear on a video shoot or a night out. Teachers rotate playlists weekly, and requests genuinely get played.
Do you run commercial classes for teens and kids in Glasgow? +
Yes — commercial is our most requested style for teens. Separate age groups (6–8, 9–14, 15–16) run with DBS-checked teachers; choose the age range on the form and we will match you to the session.
Will the routines be filmed? +
Sometimes groups film the final run for their own phones — it is optional, and half the class treats it as the highlight. Nobody is filmed without asking.
Are there performance opportunities? +
As the Glasgow programme grows: showcase events, competition teams and workshop stages. Regulars hear about opportunities first, and the city's wider commercial scene runs events year-round.
