Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0–10 mins

Warm-Up With Attitude

We loosen the whole body and, crucially, the face — Bollywood lives on expression — bouncing through a light cardio warm-up that already feels halfway to a routine.

10–25 mins

Hands and Expressions

You meet the graceful hand gestures borrowed from classical Indian dance and the big, storytelling expressions, the details that separate Bollywood from any ordinary pop routine.

25–40 mins

Footwork and Bounce

The lower half gets going with the bouncy, rhythmic steps that drive a film number, drilled slowly then sped up until they lock into the beat.

40–50 mins

Formations

We arrange the room into the group shapes that make Bollywood so cinematic, learning to move together and hit the same accents at the same moment.

50–60 mins

The Full Number

Everything comes together in one high-energy routine danced to a proper film track, big finish and all — the part everyone secretly turns up for.

About Bollywood Classes in Brighton

Bollywood dance is a glorious mash-up — classical Indian hand gestures and folk steps folded in with jazz, hip-hop and the sheer showmanship of Hindi cinema — and our bollywood classes in Brighton lean into every bit of that colour. Routines are big, expressive and unashamedly fun, which is exactly why they suit all abilities: the energy carries you along, and a beaming smile covers a multitude of first-week wobbles.

Brighton is the natural city for a style this joyful and this open. It is a place that throws itself into festivals and performance — Brighton Fringe fills the calendar and the Brighton Dome keeps a busy stage — and its famously diverse, come-as-you-are crowd takes to Bollywood's exuberance without a second thought. We keep the focus squarely on the dance itself: the footwork, the expressions and the group formations that make a Bollywood number land.

Classes run centrally, an easy walk from North Laine and the main streets, with the studio confirmed on booking, and getting there is simple on the mainline trains into Brighton station or the city buses — no tram or metro required. Wear trainers you can spin and bounce in and bring your energy; we bring the choreography. Better still for a group, we take the whole class to you anywhere across Brighton, Hove and the Sussex coast, hen parties very much included.

Why Choose Bollywood in Brighton?

A Proper Cardio Hit

All that bounce, spin and arm work turns an hour into a genuine workout you barely notice, because you are too busy grinning to clock the effort.

Expression Over Perfection

Bollywood rewards commitment and a big smile far more than clean technique, which makes it wonderfully forgiving for nervous first-timers of any ability.

Made for Brighton's Energy

In a city built on festivals and performance, a bold, joyful, all-inclusive style like this fits right in — and everyone is welcome on the floor.

Perfect for Groups

Hen parties, birthdays and work do's across Brighton, Hove and the Sussex coast can have the whole colourful class brought straight to their venue.

Your Bollywood Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Weeks 1–3

Catching the Style

First Moves

The basic bounce, a few classical hand shapes and the confidence to dance with your face as well as your feet.

What to Bring

Trainers you can spin and jump in and clothes you can move freely in — plus a willingness to go big, which matters most.

Weeks 4–8

Building Routines

Longer Sequences

Stringing steps, hands and expressions into flowing eight-counts that start to feel like a real film number.

Dancing Together

Learning to move as a group and hit shared accents, the trick that gives Bollywood its big-screen impact.

Months 3–4

Sharper and Bigger

Cleaner Technique

Tightening the footwork and hand detail so the routines read crisp and deliberate rather than merely enthusiastic.

Musicality

Hearing the shifts in a film track and matching your energy to them, from a slow verse to an explosive chorus.

Month 5+

Full-On Performer

Whole Numbers

Carrying a complete routine start to finish with stamina to spare and a genuine sense of performance.

Your Own Sparkle

Letting your personality lead the movement, until the joy on your face is doing as much work as the choreography.

Bollywood in Brighton FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Do I need any dance background for Bollywood? +

Not in the slightest. Bollywood is one of the most beginner-friendly styles going because enthusiasm carries you further than technique. We build every routine up slowly, and a big smile genuinely does cover the early stumbles.

What should I wear and put on my feet? +

Comfortable clothes you can bounce and spin in, and trainers with a bit of grip but not so much they stick when you turn. Bring water — the routines are livelier than they look and you will warm up fast.

Is it a good workout? +

Very much so. An hour of bouncing footwork, sweeping arms and spins gets the heart rate up nicely, and because it feels like play rather than exercise most people are surprised how much of a sweat they have worked up.

How much does a class cost? +

A flat £8 on the night. There is no joining fee and no block booking — you come along to whichever sessions fit your week and pay just for those, nothing more.

Where in Brighton are the classes? +

Centrally, a short walk from North Laine and the main streets, with the exact studio confirmed at booking. It is close to Brighton station and easily reached on the city's buses from across town and Hove.

How do I get there? +

By train or bus — Brighton station takes mainline services and the buses cover the neighbourhoods. The city has no tram or metro, so trains and buses are the way to arrive, and most of the central studios are a short walk from the station.

Will I learn actual film routines? +

Yes — sessions are built around real Bollywood tracks and the kind of choreography you would see in a film number, complete with the hand gestures, expressions and group formations that make it unmistakably Bollywood.

Is Bollywood suitable for a hen party or group? +

It is one of our most popular group bookings — colourful, high-energy and impossible not to enjoy. We bring the whole class to your venue across Brighton, Hove and the Sussex coast; you can also book a bollywood hen party for a one-off group session.

Can all ages and abilities join together? +

Absolutely. Bollywood suits a wide mix of ages and every ability level, and groups of friends or family with very different experience happily dance the same routine side by side. Everyone starts from the same warm-up.
