Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0–10 mins

Big Warm-Up

We kick off with an upbeat warm-up to a film track, loosening the shoulders, wrists and hips, because Bollywood asks the whole body to join in from head to fingertips.

10–25 mins

The Signature Moves

Next come the building blocks — the shoulder bounces, the stamping footwork and the bright open-armed poses that instantly read as Bollywood, taught slowly on the count.

25–40 mins

Talking Hands

We add the expressive hand gestures borrowed from classical Indian dance, the flourishes that let the movement tell a little story rather than just keep time.

40–50 mins

Building the Routine

The separate moves get stitched together into a short, punchy sequence set to a well-known film song, layering the footwork, the arms and the attitude.

50–60 mins

Full-Volume Finish

We run the whole routine at full energy with all the smiles and sparkle turned up, the moment the counting disappears and it simply feels like a proper Bollywood number.

About Bollywood Classes in Blackpool

Bollywood dance is the joyful, all-in style of Indian cinema — a bright fusion of classical Indian movement, folk steps and modern pop, danced to the huge soundtracks of Hindi films. Our Bollywood classes in Blackpool teach it from scratch, breaking those big screen routines into simple counts so a total beginner can pick up the footwork, the shoulder bounces and the expressive hand gestures and feel like a film star by the end of the hour.

It suits Blackpool perfectly, because this is a town that has always celebrated spectacle and showmanship. More than a century of variety theatre, dazzling stage shows and the sheer colour of the seafront in full swing have made it a place that understands a big, joyful performance, and Bollywood's beaming, arms-wide energy fits right in. Ours is an independent beginners' class focused on the dance itself — the storytelling gestures, the rhythm and the sheer fun of moving to those irresistible film tracks.

Classes run at a central studio confirmed when you book, with no partner and no experience needed — just yourself and enough energy to enjoy it. We are easy to reach on the Promenade tramway and the local buses, with Blackpool North and Blackpool South stations both close by, and we happily bring a high-energy Bollywood session out to groups and hen parties across the Fylde coast.

Your Bollywood Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Weeks 1–3

The Basics

First Moves

Shoulder bounces, basic footwork and a few open poses, taught on the count until they feel natural to a beginner.

What to Wear

Comfortable clothes you can move and sweat in, with trainers for the footwork — bright colours optional but always encouraged.

Weeks 4–8

Adding Expression

Hand Gestures

The expressive hands and flourishes from classical Indian dance, layered over the footwork you already know.

Bigger Steps

Travelling steps and turns added in, so the routine starts to cover the floor with energy.

Months 3–4

Full Routines

Longer Sequences

Whole film-song routines built up and drilled, combining footwork, arms and performance.

Musicality

Hitting the accents and the big moments in the track, so your dancing matches the drama of the music.

Month 5+

Performing With Confidence

The Whole Number

Dancing a complete routine full-out from start to finish, with the energy and smiles that make Bollywood shine.

Your Own Sparkle

Letting your personality and expression lead, until the routine feels like a performance rather than steps.

Bollywood in Blackpool FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Do I need any dance experience? +

None at all. Our Bollywood class is designed for absolute beginners, and every routine is broken down into simple counts. As long as you bring some energy and a willingness to smile, you will keep right up from your first session.

Do I need a partner? +

No — Bollywood is danced as a group, all facing the same way, so you come on your own and join in with everyone else. There is no partnering and nobody is put on the spot.

Is it a good workout? +

It genuinely is. The style is fast and full-bodied, so an hour gives you a proper cardio session while you are far too busy enjoying the music to notice you are exercising.

What should I wear? +

Comfortable clothes you can move freely and warm up in, with trainers for the energetic footwork. Bright colours suit the mood but are not required — come as you are and bring plenty of energy.

Will I have to perform in front of people? +

Only if you want to. The class is relaxed and everyone learns the routine together, so the focus is on having fun and picking up the moves rather than putting on a show for anyone.

How much does it cost? +

A flat £8 paid on the night, with nothing due in advance. There is no membership and no block of classes to sign up for — you come whenever it suits and pay as you go.

Where in Blackpool are the classes held? +

At a central studio near the town centre, with the full address confirmed once you book. It sits within easy reach of the seafront and the main stations.

How do I get there without driving? +

Blackpool's Promenade tramway runs the length of the seafront and the buses cover the town, while Blackpool North and Blackpool South stations bring trains in from across the North West. A tram or bus will drop you close to the studio.

Can you teach my group or hen party? +

Absolutely — a Bollywood class is one of our most popular group and hen-do bookings. We bring the whole high-energy session to your own venue and cover Blackpool and the entire Fylde coast. Just send us your date and numbers.
