Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0–10 mins

Loosen and Learn the Words

A gentle warm-up doubles as a vocabulary lesson — grapevine, shuffle, pivot, kick-ball-change — so the calls make sense before the music starts.

10–25 mins

Build the First Dance

We add the steps of a simple dance one wall at a time, walking it through slowly and counting out loud until the sequence starts to loop naturally.

25–40 mins

Turn to the Next Wall

Once the sequence is solid we add the turn that faces you to a new wall each time round, which is the moment line dancing suddenly clicks for most people.

40–50 mins

Up to Tempo, With Music

The dance runs to its actual track at full speed, and we tidy the corners that always wobble the first few times through.

50–60 mins

A Second Dance or a Floor-Filler

Time allowing, we add a quick second dance or a familiar pop floor-filler, then stretch off the calves and hips before you head away smiling.

About Line Dancing Classes in Blackpool

We keep line dance classes in Blackpool refreshingly simple and honest: instructor-led, arranged around you, and with a come-to-you option across the Fylde coast, rather than dressed up as a big standing weekly night that meets on the Promenade. Line dancing is the most sociable style we teach and the least fussy to start — everyone faces the same way, follows the same sequence, and turns to a new wall together, so you are never the odd one out and you never need to bring a partner.

The building blocks are friendlier than they sound. A grapevine is a step to the side, a step behind and out again; a shuffle is a quick triple-step; a pivot spins you to face the next wall. String a handful of those together and you have a dance, and once you have half a dozen dances your feet start recognising the patterns before your head does. We run it to country and modern pop alike — plenty of today's floor-fillers have a line dance sitting underneath them.

For the regular class there is a town-centre studio a short tram-ride from Blackpool North, and for groups we happily travel out across the Fylde — Bispham, Lytham St Annes, Poulton-le-Fylde, Thornton-Cleveleys and Fleetwood, remembering those are their own towns rather than central Blackpool. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that pivot without gripping, bring water, and pay your £8 on the day. There is no term and no membership — just turn up on the weeks that suit you.

Why Choose Line Dancing in Blackpool?

Never Need a Partner

Everyone dances the same sequence facing the same way, so you turn up solo, with a friend or as a whole group and are always part of the line.

We'll Come to You

Groups across the Fylde coast can have the class brought to their own hall or function room — handy for a hen do, a birthday or a social club.

Genuinely All Ages

Line dancing suits a wide age range at once, so it works for a mixed family group or a community session where nobody gets left behind.

Country and Pop

It is not all boots and steel guitar — we run dances to modern pop and chart floor-fillers too, so the playlist stays fun for everyone in the room.

Your Line Dancing Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Weeks 1–4

The First Few Dances

In the room

You meet the core steps and learn two or three straightforward dances, walking them through before speeding up.

By the end

You can get through a simple dance to music and turn to each new wall without stopping to think.

Month 2

A Growing Repertoire

In the room

New dances come faster because the steps repeat, and we add a few sharper moves and quicker tempos.

By the end

You have a handful of dances your feet remember and can pick up a new one from the calls alone.

Months 3–5

Confident on the Floor

In the room

Longer, livelier dances and the trickier turns and syncopations that keep the style interesting.

By the end

You can walk into most social line-dance floors and join in without needing the dance taught first.

Month 6+

Anything the DJ Plays

In the room

A broad mix of country and pop dances, faster teaching and the confidence to lead a line when someone hesitates.

By the end

You are the person others follow when a familiar track comes on — the whole point of a line dance.

Line Dancing in Blackpool FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Where in Blackpool do the line dance classes run? +

The regular class is at a town-centre studio a short tram-ride from Blackpool North, and for groups we come to you across Blackpool and the Fylde coast. The exact venue is confirmed when you enquire.

How much is a line dance class? +

£8 per session, paid on the day. There is no term to sign up for and no membership — you only ever pay for the classes you actually attend.

Do I need a partner? +

No — that is the beauty of line dancing. Everyone dances the same steps facing the same way, so you can come alone, with a friend or as a group and always be part of the line.

Is there a big weekly line dance night I'd be joining? +

We are honest that we run this instructor-led and around you rather than as one large fixed weekly night. That keeps it flexible — a regular class or a come-to-you group booking — and we will point you toward other local social floors if you want more.

Is it only country music? +

Not at all. Plenty of dances are set to country tracks because the tradition grew up with them, but we run modern pop and chart floor-fillers too, so the playlist stays lively for a mixed room.

What should I wear on my feet? +

Comfortable clothes and shoes that let you pivot smoothly — a smooth-ish sole beats heavy grip, since a lot of line dancing is turning on the spot. Trainers are fine to start.

Is it suitable for older or less active beginners? +

Very much so. Line dancing is low-impact, paced gently at the start and easy to scale, which is why it suits such a wide age range — you move at a level that feels right for you.

Can you bring a class to our group? +

Yes. Hen parties, birthdays, social clubs and community groups across the Fylde — Bispham, Lytham St Annes, Poulton-le-Fylde, Thornton-Cleveleys and Fleetwood included — can book us to come to them. Add the details to the form.

Do children join in too? +

They can. Younger dancers are welcome in age-appropriate sessions with DBS-checked teachers, run separately from the adult class. Note the age on the enquiry and we will sort the right group.
