A group of fourteen of us picked up the Spice Girls number in a studio just off the Market Place, then spilled out onto Saddler Street. Our choreographer had us in stitches, and that last video is still pinned in the group chat.
Sadie N. Maid of honour, DurhamDance Classes & Hen Parties in Durham
Weekly classes in twenty styles, more than 38 themed hen parties and first dances for the big day — all led by working dancers from the North East's stages, tours and rehearsal rooms.
Choose the Theme. Your Choreographer Handles the Routine.
Every hen dance class in Durham begins with a theme — Beyoncé, ABBA, Wicked, whichever the bride would love from the 38-plus list — and finishes with all of you performing something you picked up together in a single afternoon.
A pro choreographer walks you through each move in a private studio in the middle of town, or turns up at your cottage or Airbnb somewhere out in County Durham. That one flat fee covers everybody.
A lesson mid-afternoon, drinks around the Market Place after dark, then the routine again at the wedding half a year on — a Durham hen weekend at its best.
A Single Fixed Fee. Forget the Per-Head Sums.
Nearly every hen company bills by the head, which means redoing the numbers each time someone drops out or piles in. Ours is one set fee for the whole party — no matter how many surface from the Airbnb on the day.

Wedding Dance Lessons in Durham
Your first dance is the reception's most filmed minute and a half — it deserves better than an anxious sway. Our choreographers craft a private routine around your track, anything from understated to a genuine showstopper, at a town-centre studio or your own venue.
Four to six sessions in the run-up suits most couples; the two-hour Last Minute intensive has salvaged plenty of two-weeks-to-go emergencies. Packages open at £75, and song edits and filmed run-throughs come in as you step up the tiers.

Questions, Answered
The things Durham dancers check before they book — where, how much, what level and how soon. Anything we've missed, the enquiry forms land with us inside a working day.
Where in and around Durham do you actually run everything?
Studios in the centre near the Market Place and Saddler Street, with children's classes running out through Gilesgate, Framwellgate Moor and Chester-le-Street. For hen parties and private bookings, your choreographer will also come to your cottage, Airbnb or venue right across County Durham.
How exactly does the one-price hen booking add up?
The single fee covers everyone: £140 plus venue for the hour, £165 plus venue for ninety minutes, whether eight of you show or twenty-six. No dividing it by heads, no extra when the numbers move, and the one optional extra is a £10 bottle of fizz for the bride.
What does a weekly class set me back?
It's £8 a class no matter how you come — a single drop-in or a block of four weeks, right across the twenty styles. Nothing to join and nothing to sign, so switch styles from one week to the next if you like.
Do we need to have danced before?
Not a step. Every style has a beginner level, and the hen routines assume a roomful of people convinced they can't dance. The teachers are working pros with a real gift for getting complete beginners going.
Who will actually be teaching us in Durham?
Dancers and choreographers drawn from the North East's own scene — the sort who fill their weeks with shows, tours and studio work and teach around it. The children's classes are handled by DBS-checked professionals.
How early do we need to get a date in?
You can normally jump into a weekly class the same week. Hen parties like three to five months' lead for summer Saturdays — the Miners' Gala weekend in particular packs the city out — and couples marrying should get going two or three months ahead.
What Our Dancers Say
Real hen dos, first dances and weekly classes from right across Durham and the wider county.
I wandered into a salsa class after work by Elvet Bridge and now I'm out at socials twice a week. With partners swapping all night you've met half of Durham by the end of your first month.
Callan W. Weekly student, DurhamFive sessions over in Gilesgate took our panicky shuffle to a real routine, dip and all. Running it through at our venue near Chester-le-Street the week before was the best money we spent on the whole wedding.

By Train
Every studio sits within a walk of Durham railway station and the bus station, and the evening classes are set late enough to catch people coming in after work or lectures from any direction.
Coming Into Town
Hen groups roll in on the East Coast Main Line right to Durham station, and it's a steep, lovely walk downhill into town from there — bring shoes that cope with cobbles.
Honestly, Don't Drive
The cathedral peninsula has restricted road access and the streets are steep and cobbled, so park at The Sands or Prince Bishops and walk in. Tell us if you are driving and we will suggest venues with parking nearby.
We Travel Too
