About Bollywood Classes in Cheltenham

Bollywood dance is the exuberant style of Indian cinema — classical Indian technique, folk, hip-hop and Western contemporary all folded into one joyful package and set to unforgettable Hindi film music. Our Cheltenham class teaches high-energy routines thick with storytelling, hand gestures and dramatic expression, the sort of session that leaves the room grinning.

It suits the town more than you might guess. Cheltenham runs on celebration — four world-known festivals a year, open-air events on the Promenade and in Imperial Gardens, a place that knows how to put on a show. A vibrant, welcoming community backs it up, and this class draws dancers from every background; you need no connection to Indian culture to fall for the style. What has been missing is a regular, structured drop-in, and that is what we add, at a flat £8 a session.

No experience, flexibility or particular fitness is needed — just a readiness to smile. Every movement is broken down clearly and carried by the music's momentum. Wear comfortable clothes with trainers or bare feet; bright colours are encouraged but never required.

Bollywood in Cheltenham FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Do I need any dance experience? +

None. The Cheltenham class is built for beginners and grows from simple steps to full routines. Your teacher breaks every combination down, and the music genuinely carries you along.

Do I need to know anything about Indian culture? +

Not at all. We share context to enrich the class, but it is open to everyone whatever your background — the joy of Bollywood travels well beyond any one country.

Is it a good workout? +

A serious one. Fast footwork, big arm work and spinning routines deliver a full cardio session — most people are surprised how much they sweat while having this much fun.

What does a class cost? +

A flat £8 per drop-in, paid on the night. No membership and no contract — just turn up when you can.

Where in Cheltenham do classes run? +

A central studio near the Promenade and Imperial Gardens, easy to reach on foot. Cheltenham Spa station is west of the centre, about fifteen minutes' walk or a short bus or taxi away.

Will race week or the festivals affect getting there? +

Chiefly the parking. During the March Festival and Gold Cup at Prestbury Park, and across the Jazz, Literature, Science and Music festivals, traffic and taxis get busy and rooms cost more — allow extra time and check a central car park such as Regent Arcade or Rodney Road and its evening closing time.

What should I wear? +

Comfortable clothes you can move freely in — leggings or joggers and a t-shirt — with trainers or bare feet. Bright colour is welcome but entirely up to you.

What music will we dance to? +

A blend of classic and current Hindi film tracks, from golden-era favourites to recent chart numbers off films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil Se and Pathaan.

Can I arrange a private or group session? +

Yes — private lessons for individuals or small groups by arrangement, and a group of friends can book a one-off Bollywood session. Get in touch with numbers and we will set a flat quote.
