Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Loosen And Learn The Grid
We ease the body warm and then explain the one idea the whole style rests on — you dance the same short sequence facing one wall, then it swings you to face the next. Grasp that a line dance simply repeats and rotates, and the rest of the hour stops feeling like memorising and starts feeling like a pattern.
The Building Blocks
Next we drill the steps the dances are assembled from — the grapevine, the step-touch, a heel dig, a kick-ball-change, a gentle pivot turn. Named, walked through slowly, and practised on their own, so that when a dance calls for a grapevine you already have it in the bank.
The First Wall
We build the opening sequence one block at a time and dance it facing a single wall until it is comfortable. No music pressure yet — just the steps in the right order, repeated enough that your feet start to remember the shape before your head does.
Turn The Corner
Now the fun part: we add the turn that rotates the dance to a new wall and loop the whole thing around. This is where a line dance clicks into place — the same sequence, a quarter-turn on, and suddenly the whole group is travelling round the room in time.
Dance It Through
We run the finished dance to a proper track a few times, all four walls, all the way through — then a gentle cool-down. Most people are genuinely surprised to walk out having learnt a complete dance from scratch inside the hour.
About Line Dancing Classes in Cheltenham
We do not run a standing weekly line-dance night in Cheltenham, and we are not going to invent one to look busier than we are. Our model is refreshingly simple: you gather a group and a room, and we bring the whole class to you — modern floor-fillers or proper country line dances, whichever the group fancies — anywhere across Cheltenham and the county around it.
That takes in the central districts around the Promenade, Montpellier, Pittville, Leckhampton and Charlton Kings, and reaches out to the villages beyond — Bishops Cleeve, Staverton, Prestbury and the Cotswold fringe. Line dancing is one of the friendliest possible things to learn as a group, because it needs no partner, forgives the odd wrong turn instantly, and has everyone travelling together within the first half hour.
Each session is a flat £8 a head on the day, with no term to join and no membership behind it. Wear comfortable shoes with a smooth sole that slides a little — proper boots optional but very welcome — and clothes you can move in. Bring a group of friends, a hen party, a work team or a family, and we will have the room dancing a full routine, all four walls, before the hour is out.

Why Choose Line Dancing in Cheltenham?
The Class Comes To You
No venue to find and no weekly slot to fit around — you pick the room and the date anywhere across Cheltenham and Gloucestershire, and the whole class arrives ready to go.
Never Need A Partner
Line dancing is danced solo in a group, so nobody sits out for lack of a partner and nobody is paired off. You dance your own lines, entirely surrounded by everyone else dancing theirs.
A Whole Dance In An Hour
Because the sequence repeats and rotates, a complete dance is genuinely learnable from scratch in a single session — one of the quickest wins in beginner dance and hugely satisfying for a group.
Wrong Turns Are Half The Fun
When the whole line pivots and one person goes the other way, it gets a laugh rather than a wince. It is a forgiving, good-humoured style, which makes it ideal for mixed-ability groups.
Your Line Dancing Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
The First Session
The Penny Drops
For ten minutes it seems like a lot to remember, then the repeat-and-rotate idea lands and the whole thing reframes as one short pattern rather than a long list of steps.
The Quick Win
You walk out having danced a complete routine, all four walls, to a real track. Few beginner styles hand you a finished thing quite that fast.
Building A Repertoire
Coming Together
The core steps — grapevines, pivots, heel digs — become automatic, so a new dance is mostly a new order of things you already own rather than starting over.
The Tricky Part
The turns that change the count's direction. Getting your bearings mid-rotation takes a few goes, and cheerful wrong turns are simply part of the process.
A Few Dances In
Growing
A handful of dances under the belt, quicker pickup on each new one, and the confidence to dance without watching the person in front. The group starts to look genuinely tidy.
Booking Again
Having us back becomes the group's routine. Eight pounds a head each time, choose a date that suits everyone, and we return to your room wherever it is in the county.
The Long View
Where It Leads
Some groups build a whole evening's worth of dances, some book us for a party or reunion, some use it as an easy, sociable way back into moving at all.
What Lasts
The daft, happy feeling of a whole room travelling in time together — a low-pressure, high-laughter afternoon people are keen to do again.
Line Dancing in Cheltenham FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Is there a weekly line-dance class I can drop into in Cheltenham? +
Not a standing one, and we will not pretend otherwise. We work come-to-you: you gather a group and choose a date, and we bring the whole class to your room anywhere across Cheltenham and Gloucestershire.
Do I need a partner? +
Never. That is the beauty of line dancing — everyone dances the same steps solo, side by side, in lines. Nobody is paired off and nobody sits out waiting for a partner to appear.
Is it all country music and cowboy boots? +
Only if you want it to be. We teach both traditional country line dances and modern ones set to current pop and chart tracks, so the group picks the flavour. Boots are welcome but ordinary smooth-soled shoes are perfectly fine.
How much does it cost? +
A flat £8 per person, paid on the day. No term, no membership, no contract. You book a session, we bring the class to you, and the rate holds whether it is a one-off or a regular thing.
How many people do we need? +
A handful upward works well — friends, a hen party, a work team, a family. Line dancing looks and feels better the more people are travelling in a line, so a small group is the ideal starting point.
Where around Cheltenham do you cover? +
The central districts around the Promenade, Montpellier, Pittville, Leckhampton and Charlton Kings, and out to villages like Bishops Cleeve, Staverton, Prestbury and the Cotswold edge. Anywhere in the county, we can usually reach you.
I have two left feet — will I cope? +
You will, honestly. Line dancing is built on repetition and forgiveness — the sequence comes round again and again, so a missed step just gets a second chance moments later. It is the gentlest way in for the nervous.
What space do we need for it? +
A room with clear floor and a smooth, non-carpeted surface if possible, so shoes can glide a little. A hired hall, a function room, a big kitchen-diner or a garden patio all do the job for a group session.
Does race week or festival season affect us? +
Mostly just travel and parking. Around Cheltenham's busy festival and race weeks we simply agree the timing with you, and because you pay per session, moving a date when the town is packed costs nothing.
