Dance Jobs in York

Teaching and choreography roles the length of York and the Vale of York — set your own freelance hours, earn from £22 an hour, and build it all around the performing career you are already running.

Join Our York Team

There is rarely a quiet week in York — regular classes, weekend hen dos, first-dance coaching and school workshops keep coming in, and all of them need professional dancers who can teach as confidently as they perform.

Paid Properly

Teaching starts at £22 an hour and choreography for hens and weddings at £25. You will know the figure before the first session, it reaches you on time, and there is never an invoice to chase down.

Around Your Career

You decide when you are free; filling those slots is our job. A typical York teacher clocks anywhere from a couple of hours to ten in a week, fitting them around castings, contracts and touring, and drops everything the instant a bigger gig calls.

Room to Build

Grow a weekly class of your own with our marketing doing the legwork, snap up casting leads from the events roster, and slide between roles as you add strings to your bow.

Positions Available

Three roles to choose from — do one, or juggle all three. Whoever teaches across multiple styles gets first look at the York timetable.

Hen Party Instructor

  • Song editing support provided
  • Beginner-teaching experience essential

Regular Class Teacher

Dance Jobs York FAQ

Common questions from instructors thinking about joining the York team.

Do I need a teaching qualification to apply for dance jobs in York?

It helps, but we have never made it a requirement. The job goes to whoever brings real training or stage experience and can command a room full of strangers. A fair number of our strongest teachers came to teaching through performing, never the reverse.

How much do dance instructors get paid in York?

A standard class starts you at £22 an hour, and hen or wedding choreography at £25. Every rate is agreed up front, the money turns up when it should, and we revisit it as your workload grows.

Which dance styles are you hiring for in York?

The whole timetable is open — all twenty styles, ballet and ballroom across to street, K-pop and heels — with hen party and wedding roles alongside. Anyone comfortable teaching more than one style tends to have the fullest week.

Is the work full-time or freelance?

It is freelance and it flexes to suit you. One teacher might keep a single weekly class; another might string together classes, weekend hens and school workshops into a nearly full week. None of it is ever use-it-or-lose-it.

I perform and audition — can teaching fit around that?

Exactly the kind of person we are after. A good share of the York roster are performers who fit teaching between jobs. Send over how your availability tends to look and we shape the work to it — then park it whenever a tour comes in.
