About This Chicago Hen Party Dance Class in York

A Chicago dance hen party York gives your group an hour inside the smoky, sequinned world of a 1920s speakeasy — Roxie Hart poses, Velma Kelly attitude and the slinky chair choreography everyone pictures when they hear 'And All That Jazz'. Your choreographer breaks the moves down slowly, so whether the hen is a natural or has two left feet, the whole group lands the shoulder rolls, the sharp isolations and the finger-click finish together. It is cheeky, glamorous and built for laughing your way through, not a dance exam.

We lean into York's own after-dark atmosphere for the mood. The city trades on its ghost-walk reputation and low-lit medieval snugs, so a Prohibition-era hush comes naturally here — think a candlelit function room off Fossgate rather than a bright hall. There is no need for a real Chicago link and we make no jazz-club claims; the era is the whole costume, and York's crooked lanes and hidden cellar bars set the scene for themselves. Feather boas, a hip flask prop and a bit of biro-drawn 'cell block' number make the photos.

It runs wherever suits your Chicago dance hen do York: a townhouse Airbnb near Micklegate, a hotel suite by the station, or a hired studio a short walk from the Shambles. Rehearse the razzle-dazzle in the afternoon, then take the same swagger straight onto the Micklegate run or into a Coney Street cocktail bar. We come to you right across York and the Vale of York — Clifton, Holgate, Fulford or Bishopthorpe — at one flat rate, no per-head surprises.

What Our Hens Say

Chicago hen parties we have taught across York.

Chicago

"The Chicago theme was perfect for our girl — sultry but so much fun. Our teacher had even the shyest bridesmaid strutting by the end. We did it in a townhouse off Micklegate and floated out to the bars afterwards."

— Roxanne Metcalfe ★★★★★

"Booked it for my sister's hen and it was the highlight of the weekend. The chair routine looked so professional in the videos. Flat price meant no awkward splitting the bill fourteen ways."

— Priya Sandhu-Beck ★★★★★

"We had all ages from 22 to 68 and everyone managed the moves. Feather boas, a few props and loads of laughing. Brilliant warm-up before our night on Coney Street."

— Charlotte Ives ★★★★★

"Came to our Airbnb near the station, no faff. Jazz-age glamour, great photos, and the bride got her big solo moment. Could not recommend it more for a York hen."

— Della Rawnsley ★★★★★

Chicago Hen Party FAQ

Everything you need to know about our Chicago hen party dance class in York.

Do we need any dance experience for the Chicago class? +

None at all. The whole session is built for beginners — your choreographer teaches every move slowly and repeats it until the group is comfortable. Confident dancers still get plenty out of the attitude and styling, but nobody is left behind.

Where in York does the class happen? +

Wherever suits you. We most often come to your Airbnb, hotel function room or house across York and the Vale of York — Clifton, Holgate, Fulford, Bishopthorpe and the centre — or we can arrange a hired studio a short walk from the Shambles. The confirmed address is set when you book.

How much is it and are there hidden costs? +

It is a flat rate — £140 for a 60-minute class or £165 for 90 minutes, for the whole group rather than per person. Add £10 if you would like chilled bubbly. If your venue charges room hire that is the only possible extra, and we will flag it up front.

Is the music suitable and appropriate? +

Yes. We use edited, radio-clean versions of numbers like 'All That Jazz', so the routine is sultry in style but comfortable for a mixed group of all ages to dance to together.

How big can the group be? +

Anything from five up to thirty-plus. The flat rate covers the whole party, so bigger groups are better value per head. For very large hens we can bring a second instructor — just tell us numbers when you enquire.

Can you fit around our other York plans? +

Absolutely. Most hens slot the class into the afternoon before heading out. Do bear in mind that a York race day at the Knavesmire can make the centre and taxis busy, so tell us your date early and we will plan the timing around it.
