About This Samba Hen Party Dance Class in Preston

Being honest about it: Preston does not have its own resident samba bloco waiting in the wings. What it has is a city that knows how to turn out for a procession — the Preston Guild has paraded the trades and teams through the streets once every twenty years since the 1500s, and there is a bit of that same combine-and-finish spirit in a samba line. What we bring is one instructor who can pack an entire carnival's worth of bounce into sixty or ninety minutes for your group alone.

Samba is all in the springy knee bounce and the hip that swings off it, so the instructor starts you there before adding travelling steps, arm frames and a hair-flinging group finish timed to a batucada beat. It is proper cardio dressed up as a party, and the count is broken down small enough that the auntie who came to watch usually ends up in the front line. Feathers and a bit of carnival colour are welcome but never required.

Picture the Flag Market with the Harris steps behind it and you have the mental image the routine builds toward — a group parading in and hitting one big shared pose. Everything sits in Preston's walkable centre, so the class and the night after are minutes apart on foot. The cost is one flat figure for the whole line: £140 buys the hour, £165 the hour-and-a-half, and it is never carved up per person. Fancy a toast before you parade out? Bubbly is a flat £10.

What Our Hens Say

Samba hen parties we have taught across Preston.

"We wanted something loud and daft for the bride and this was it. The bounce had us all creased laughing, then somehow the finish looked properly good on camera. Best start to a Preston weekend we could have picked."

— Megan Cardwell ★★★★★
Samba

"Sixteen of us in feathers in a hired room off the Flag Market. The instructor kept the slow ones going without ever making a fuss of it. My knees ached the next day and I would do it again tomorrow."

— Aimee Nuttall ★★★★★

"One price for the whole lot, no splitting the bill, and three latecomers made no difference. We paraded into one final pose like an actual carnival act. Nobody expected a hen do to leave us that buzzing."

— Steph Whittle ★★★★★

"Proper cardio hidden inside a party. Ages ranged from 23 to 55 and the bounce suited everyone somehow. We did the class then rolled straight out into town still humming the rhythm."

— Leanne Grimshaw ★★★★★

Samba Hen Party FAQ

Everything you need to know about our Samba hen party dance class in Preston.

Is Preston home to a samba group we could dance with instead? +

Not a standing one, in all honesty — the city has no resident bloco. That is exactly why a private instructor-led class is the simplest way to give your hen real carnival samba on your own date and at your own venue, without waiting for an event that is not in the diary.

None of us can dance — is samba going to be too hard? +

Not the way we teach it. Samba lives in one springy bounce, and once that clicks the rest layers on gently. The instructor drills each piece slowly and keeps the pace at the least confident hen's speed, so complete beginners finish the session with a routine rather than a bruised ego.

How much is it and does it change with group size? +

It is a flat rate for the whole group — £140 for an hour, £165 for ninety minutes — rather than a charge per head. Extra hens arriving on the day cost nothing more. The only optional add-on is bubbly on arrival at a flat £10, and the full figure is confirmed in writing before you commit.

Do we need feathers and costumes? +

Not at all — they are a nice-to-have, never a must. Plenty of groups turn up in ordinary comfy kit and have every bit as much fun. If the bride wants the full carnival look with feather headpieces and colour, brilliant, but the dancing works exactly the same in leggings and a smile.

Where in Preston does the class happen? +

Wherever suits your group. We travel to hotel function rooms, hired city-centre studios and Airbnbs with a clear stretch of floor, right across Preston and the nearby Lancashire towns. Tell us the postcode at enquiry and we will confirm the space works before anything is booked.

How big can the group be? +

From about five up to thirty-plus. A samba line genuinely gets more fun the more of you there are, since the final parade pose looks better with numbers. For very large parties we will advise on room size and can send a second instructor so nobody is left counting from the back.
