Pick a Hen Party Theme. We Build the Routine.

A hen party dance class in Derby begins with a theme — Beyoncé, ABBA, even a Lara Croft action-hero set — chosen for the bride from more than 38 options, and finishes with everyone in the room dancing a number they built together in a single afternoon.

A professional choreographer walks the group through every move in a private Cathedral Quarter studio, or packs the kit and drives to your hotel or Airbnb anywhere in Derbyshire. A single flat rate covers everyone.

Learn the number over the afternoon, take it out along Sadler Gate and Iron Gate that evening, then pull it out one more time on the wedding dance floor — a Derby hen do that actually hangs together.

One Flat Price. No Per-Head Maths.

Nearly all hen companies quote a per-person rate, which means redoing the sums every time someone drops out or a cousin joins. Ours is a single figure for the entire party, fixed from the start — six of you or twenty-six, the number on the invoice does not budge.

Ninety-minute party Extra time on the polish, another chorus or two, plenty more laughing

The same figure whether six hens show up or thirty — changing plans never costs you more.

  1. Pick your theme

Look through all 38+ themes and land on whichever suits the bride best. Caught between a couple? The choreographer will happily merge them into a single routine.

  2. In a studio, or at yours

A private Cathedral Quarter studio with the bars right outside the door, or the choreographer comes out to wherever you're based, from the city suburbs to the edge of the Peak District.

  3. Learn it as a group

Each move broken into small pieces that anyone can follow, first lesson or not — no pressure, no sniggering, and no one abandoned at the edge of the floor.

  4. Dance it for real — likely more than once

We film the last run and it's in the WhatsApp group by the time you're back on the street, and no small number of these numbers resurface at the wedding itself.

Wedding Dance Lessons in Derby

Your first dance is the reception moment every camera turns to — too big to trust to an anxious shuffle. Your choreographer designs a one-off routine around your chosen track, anywhere from understated and graceful to a genuine showstopper, taught at a central Derby studio or the venue itself.

Four to six lessons over the run-up is the usual pattern, but the two-hour Last Minute crash session has pulled couples back from a fortnight-to-go meltdown more than once. Prices start at £75, and song edits and recorded run-throughs come in on the bigger packages.

Questions, Answered

The things people usually check before they book a Derby class or hen party — the venues, the price, whether you need any experience, how far in advance to get in. Anything not covered here, drop it in an enquiry form and we answer within a working day.

Where in Derby do the classes and hen parties take place?

Most sit in the city centre — the Cathedral Quarter and Chapel Street end — with further studios out toward Spondon, Allestree and Littleover for the children's classes; the precise venue is confirmed once you're booked. Hen parties and private lessons work differently: the choreographer packs a speaker and comes to your hotel, Airbnb or hired hall, wherever that is across Derbyshire or up into the Peak District.

How exactly does the group pricing work?

It's a flat charge for everyone together — £140 plus the room for a sixty-minute class, £165 plus the room for ninety. That total holds whether you bring a group of seven or a group of twenty-five; there's no per-head sum and nothing extra to pay if a few names drop off late on.

So how much is a class?

Eight pounds, flat, no matter how you book — turn up once as a drop-in or commit to a four-week block, the price is identical across all twenty styles. There's no membership and no contract, so you can dabble in one style now and switch to another whenever you fancy.

What if none of us can dance?

Honestly, none needed. There's a genuine beginners' tier in every style, and the hen routines start from the premise that the last time most people danced was at somebody's reception. The teachers are professionals, and coaxing a jittery first-timer into a routine fast is the part of the job they're best at.

Who will actually be teaching us?

Professional dancers and choreographers who work here in Derby — the kind of people whose diaries are full of shoots, tours and stage runs at places like Derby Theatre, and who teach around those bookings. Anyone taking a children's class holds a current DBS check.

How early do we need to book?

For a weekly class, this week is usually fine — just get in touch. Summer-Saturday hen dos are the ones to plan early, ideally three to five months ahead, since the popular Cathedral Quarter slots go first. Couples working on a first dance tend to start around the two-to-three-month mark.

What Our Dancers Say

Real Derby groups — hen weekends, wedding first dances and regular weekly classes.

There were fourteen of us doing the Spice Girls number in a studio just off the Market Place, then we poured straight out onto Sadler Gate for the night. Our choreographer had the whole room roaring, and the video from the last run still gets sent round the group.

Georgia P. Maid of honour, Derby

I went to one salsa class after work on a whim, and these days I'm at socials a couple of nights a week. Because everyone rotates partners, you get to know half of Derby within a few weeks.

Ashley V. Weekly student, Derby

Six sessions took us from hopeless swaying to a first dance with an actual lift in it. Doing the final practice at The West Mill itself, days before, was the single best thing we spent on.

Find Us in Derby

City-centre studios around the Cathedral Quarter, suburban venues for the children's classes, and choreographers happy to load up and teach at your own venue anywhere in the county — you'll get the exact address the moment you're booked.

Station to City Centre

Derby's station is over on the east edge of the centre — walkable to the Derbion and St Peter's side, though with bags a quick taxi or one of the frequent buses gets a group to the Cathedral Quarter faster. Evening classes are timed to catch people finishing work.

Arriving by Train

Derby is a straightforward run on the Midland Main Line, with fast services from Birmingham, Sheffield, Leicester and beyond. Step off, grab a bus or cab into the Cathedral Quarter, and you've barely lost any of the day.

If You're Driving

The A38 and A52 bring most drivers into town, where there are several central multi-storey car parks. Pride Park runs a park-and-ride too, but its barriers shut at 7pm — handy for a daytime session, no use for an evening one.

We Come to You

Staying in a hotel, an Airbnb or a hired hall? The choreographer will bring the whole thing to you — sound system and music sorted — anywhere from the Derby suburbs out to the Peak District villages.
