Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0-10 mins

Warm and Lengthen

We start with a warm-up that pays special attention to the ankles, calves and feet, since dancing in a heel asks a lot of them. We lengthen the legs and switch on the core so you feel stable and ready before a single strut begins.

10-20 mins

The Walk

Everything in heels grows from the walk, so we drill that confident, hip-led runway strut up and down the floor. We work on placing the feet, driving from the core and carrying yourself tall, turning a simple walk into a statement.

20-35 mins

Levels and Control

Next we play with changing level — dips, body rolls and controlled lowers that look effortless but demand real balance in a heel. We break each one down slowly so you find the strength and control to move up and down with poise.

35-50 mins

The Routine

The walks, levels and poses thread into a short, sassy routine with attitude built into every count. We rehearse the joins and the facings so the whole thing flows and each pose lands with intent.

50-60 mins

Full Strut and Stretch

We run the finished number a few times at full attitude, chasing that catwalk confidence, then cool down with a good stretch for the calves and feet. You leave standing taller, walking bolder and grinning wider.

About Heels Classes in Bournemouth

Heels is choreography built for the shoe — a bold, powerful style danced in a raised heel where every strut, dip and body roll is designed to look and feel spectacular. It borrows the sharpness of commercial and the swagger of jazz, then adds the long lines, the poised balance and the unmistakable attitude that only a heel brings. Far from being about the footwear alone, it trains real strength through the ankles, calves and core, and teaches you to move with a confidence that reads from across the room. It is fierce, flattering and enormous fun.

It is a style that suits Bournemouth's confident, going-out energy — a young seaside town that dresses up and knows how to make an entrance on Old Christchurch Road of a Saturday night. The heels and commercial scene here has long orbited the studios of Commercial Road, where the town keeps its urban and choreographic dance ticking (a scene we admire purely as local context, with no affiliation implied). Our heels classes in Bournemouth take that dressed-up, camera-ready confidence and give it structure: how to walk, how to balance, how to hit a pose and own it. Whether you want to strut like the front row of a fashion show or feel powerful in a pair of shoes you already love, this is where it starts.

You need no experience and no fancy footwear to begin — a low block heel or even trainers are fine for your first sessions while your ankles adjust. We teach the technique carefully and set the pace by the room, so beginners feel secure rather than wobbly. Bring water, wear something you can move in, and add your heels when you feel ready. Your studio is confirmed on booking, and each drop-in holds at a flat £8 with no block or contract to sign.

Why Choose Heels in Bournemouth?

Walk Like You Own It

The confident, hip-led strut you build here does not stay in the studio — it follows you down the street and into any room you walk into. Learning to carry yourself in a heel changes how you move for good.

Strength Where It Counts

Dancing in a heel quietly forges real strength through the ankles, calves and core, and sharpens your balance no end. Even on the days you dance in trainers, that stability and control stay firmly with you.

Confidence in Every Step

There is a particular boldness that comes from mastering a style so unapologetically fierce. Dancers routinely tell us heels is the class that made them feel powerful and glamorous in their own skin.

Wear-Anywhere Attitude

The poise, posing and performance instinct you gather here spill straight into commercial, jazz and any night you fancy dressing up for. It is confidence you can pack in your bag and take out whenever you like.

Your Heels Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Weeks 1-3

Finding Your Feet

Balance and the Walk

The first weeks are about feeling secure in a heel and nailing the basic strut, the foundation everything else stands on. We keep the choreography light so your ankles and confidence can build together at a comfortable pace.

What to Bring

A low block heel is kindest to start, and trainers are absolutely fine while your ankles adjust — bring your favourite heels when you feel ready. Wear something you can move in, and bring water for the warm-up.

Weeks 4-9

Adding the Sass

Levels and Longer Routines

Short combos grow into full routines, and you start adding dips, body rolls and level changes that demand real control in a heel. Your strength and stamina climb steadily as the choreography gets richer.

Posing With Purpose

We sharpen how you hit and hold a pose, and how you face an imaginary audience, so your dancing reads as a confident performance rather than a set of remembered steps.

Weeks 10-16

Owning the Floor

Attitude and Dynamics

Beyond the choreography, you learn to shade a routine with your own attitude — smooth here, sharp there — so the same steps carry your personal flavour. This is where the dancing turns properly fierce and personal.

Performing It

You perform complete numbers with genuine swagger and command of the space. The nerves of the early weeks give way to the buzz of strutting a routine you truly own.

Beyond

Your Own Kind of Fierce

Going Further

The deeper you go, the more you can play with styling, storytelling and bolder choreography, developing a strut that is unmistakably yours. Heels keeps offering new ways to feel powerful and glamorous.

Groups and Parties

Heels is a fantastic pick for a private group or a celebration. If you would rather gather friends for a one-off, tell us your numbers and a song and we will build a sassy session around it.

Heels in Bournemouth FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Do I need dance experience? +

None at all. We start with balance and the basic walk and build gradually from there, so genuine beginners feel secure. Everything is broken down slowly at a pace that lets your confidence catch up.

Do I have to wear high heels? +

Not to begin with. A low block heel or even trainers are perfectly fine for your first sessions while your ankles adjust, and you can bring taller heels once you feel steady. Comfort and safety always come first.

What should I wear? +

Something you can move freely in — leggings or shorts with a fitted top work well — plus your chosen shoes and a bottle of water. Layers are handy, since the warm-up focuses on getting the ankles and calves ready.

Where in Bournemouth are the classes? +

In studios around the town centre near the Lansdowne and Old Christchurch Road, with a Westbourne option as well, all confirmed when you book. We stay within Bournemouth rather than neighbouring Poole or Christchurch.

How much is a class? +

A flat £8 for each drop-in, and that covers it entirely. There is no membership, no upfront block and no contract — you pay only for the individual sessions you come along to.

Is dancing in heels safe for my ankles? +

Yes, when it is taught properly, which is exactly what we do. We warm the ankles and calves thoroughly, build strength gradually and let you start in a low heel or trainers, so your stability grows safely week by week.

Is it a good workout? +

Very much so. Balancing, strutting and controlling level changes in a heel fires up the legs, calves and core, and the constant attitude keeps it feeling like a night out rather than a workout.

Is there an upper age limit? +

Adult classes run from 17 to 75. Heels scales to whatever intensity suits you, and you can keep the choreography as grounded or as fierce as you like, always dancing to your own body.

Can we book a private group? +

Absolutely, and heels is a brilliant choice for one. For a hen do, a birthday or friends after some glamour, tell us your numbers and a song you love and we will tailor a session to match.
