Class Structure
Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Ease In & Roll
Slow hip circles, shoulder rolls and posture work to shake off the drive in and drop into burlesque's unhurried, self-possessed tempo.
The Move Bank
Struts, bumps, the fan flourish and the classic glove peel — each signature taken apart slowly so a first-timer in any Kent town can actually land it.
Threading The Number
We stitch the moves into a short routine set to swing, slow jazz or a modern pop track, added one eight-count at a time so nobody loses the thread.
Character & The Wink
Comic timing, held eye contact and the slow art of the tease, finished with a theatrical freeze on a musical cue that reads across a whole room.
Run It & Breathe
Perform the number in character start to finish, then loosen shoulders and calves while we talk over what worked and what to sharpen next time.
About Burlesque Classes in Kent
Burlesque is confidence worn as a costume — the slow walk, the loaded look, the joke you land with a shoulder rather than a word. Because Kent is a spread-out county, we bring it to you: pick your base, whether that is a hall near Maidstone, a studio the Medway side around Rochester and Chatham, or a room out towards Tunbridge Wells and Ashford, and the class arrives there.
There is no single Kent studio and we would never pretend otherwise. Instead a teacher travels to your chosen town, so a group in Dartford and a group in Folkestone can each run the same cheeky, well-built beginner session without anyone facing an hour on the M20. What you keep on is the point; the nerve is the reveal.
It suits a hen weekend based around the Pantiles bars in Tunbridge Wells, a birthday in Maidstone, or a standing weekly class you build up over a term. Drop-in sessions are £8, no contract, and every number is choreographed for the people in the room rather than a stage you never asked for.

Why Choose Burlesque in Kent?
Nerve, Not Nudity
This is theatre and comic timing. You keep your kit on; the swagger does the work, and shyer first-timers usually leave the loudest.
We Come To Your Town
One county, many hubs — Maidstone, Medway, Tunbridge Wells, Ashford, the coast. Name your base and the teacher travels there, not you across Kent.
Built For Hen Weekends
A natural fit for a night based around the Pantiles or a Maidstone bar crawl — a filmed routine before you head out, and no stage required.
£8 A Session
Weekly drop-ins are eight pounds, pay as you go, no term contract — the same rate whether your room is in Rochester or Tenterden.
Your Burlesque Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
First Session
Nothing To Prove
You arrive, you find a spot, and within ten minutes you have a walk and a shoulder roll that already feel like burlesque. No one is watching but the mirror.
One Move Landed
By the end you own a single signature — usually the glove peel or the fan tease — clean enough to show off in front of the group and mean it.
Finding The Swagger
Character Clicks
Over a few weeks the walk stops being steps and becomes attitude. You learn to hold a look for one beat longer than feels comfortable, which is where the tease lives.
Your Own Flavour
Classic, neo, cheeky or deadpan — we shape the persona to you rather than casting you as somebody else's idea of a showgirl.
A Whole Number
Routine Memorised
A full short number sits in your body — entrance, build, reveal and freeze — the sort of thing you could run at a hen do in Tunbridge Wells without notes.
Props In Hand
Fans, gloves and a chair become tools you trust rather than things you fumble, timed to the music instead of rushed.
Keeping It
Performance Nerve
The freeze, the eye contact and the comic beat carry into everyday life — meetings, dance floors, first dates — long after the class ends.
Room To Return
Some book a one-off for a birthday; others keep a weekly slot in their Kent town for a term. Both are normal, and the £8 drop-in makes either easy.
Burlesque in Kent FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Do I have to take anything off in a burlesque class? +
No. Nothing comes off in class — burlesque here is about the walk, the tease and the timing, all done fully clothed. The glamour is in the attitude, not the reveal, and beginners keep every stitch on.
Where in Kent do the classes actually run? +
Wherever suits your group. We come to you across the county — a hall near Maidstone, a studio the Medway side around Rochester or Chatham, or a room out towards Tunbridge Wells, Ashford, Dartford or the coast. You pick the base and the teacher travels to it.
Is there one central Kent studio I come to? +
No, and we would not pretend there is — Kent is a big county to cross. There is no single venue; a teacher brings the session to your chosen town, so nobody drives an hour along the M20 for a class.
I have never danced before — is that a problem? +
Not at all. Complete beginners are exactly who these sessions are built for. Every signature move is broken down slowly, and the confident swagger tends to arrive faster than people expect, whatever their dance history.
Can we book burlesque for a hen party in Kent? +
Yes. It is a favourite for hen weekends based around Tunbridge Wells or Maidstone — a filmed routine before you head out. Groups bring their own props and costumes if they want them; we bring the choreography and the laughs.
What should I wear to a class? +
Something you can move in and a pair of heels you can stand in if you own them — trainers are fine to start. Many people bring gloves or a fan later, but nothing fancy is needed for your first session.
How much does it cost? +
Weekly drop-in classes are £8 a session, paid as you go with no term contract. The rate is the same wherever your room is in Kent, from Dartford to Folkestone. Hen and private group bookings are quoted separately.
Am I too old for burlesque? +
No. Our classes run for ages 17 to 75 and burlesque genuinely rewards a bit of life experience — the comic timing and the self-assured walk often come easier with a few years behind you.
Will I have to perform in front of strangers? +
Only ever in front of your own class, and only when you want to. There is no public showcase built into weekly sessions — the run-through at the end is for the group, and you set how much you show.
