Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

First 10

Warm-Up & Point Moves

We loosen wrists, neck and hips, then drill the song's 'point' moves — the two-second signature bits fans recognise instantly — so you nail the highlights early.

10–24

Section by Section

The verse, pre-chorus and chorus taught mirrored and slowed, right down to the head tilts and hand shapes the idols actually do, not an approximation.

24–40

Formations & Facings

Where you stand, when you switch and which way you face — the group geometry that makes a cover read like the real thing rather than a line of people guessing.

40–52

Full Speed & Expression

Bringing the section up to record tempo with the facial energy and attack that sell K-pop. Sharp on the hits, soft on the flow.

52–60

Run & Film

A couple of full-out runs, an optional group take for the camera, then a cool-down — because half the fun is watching it back.

About K-Pop Classes in Canterbury

K-pop choreography is a discipline of precision and character: tightly synced group formations, crisp point moves engineered to go viral, and constant switches of energy across a single track. Learning a cover means matching an idol group move for move and facing for facing — closer to reconstructing a performance than freestyling to pop.

Canterbury's student population — the University of Kent, Christ Church and a young city crowd — keeps K-pop covers and dance challenges alive online, but sit-down adult sessions to actually learn them properly are scarce. Rather than claim a weekly hub we do not have, we arrange K-pop classes around real groups, bringing a teacher and a mirror-friendly floor to a hired hall or your venue across Canterbury and East Kent.

No prior dance needed, and no need to already know every group. Comfortable clothes, clean trainers, water and a song you are itching to learn. Round up a few friends or register solo, tell us the track, and we build the session around it.

Why Choose K-Pop in Canterbury?

Move-for-Move Accuracy

We break the real choreography down to the wrist flicks and head turns, mirrored so what you copy is the correct side — no vague 'something like it'.

Formations That Read

You learn the spacing, switches and facings that make a group cover look like the video, not just the arm-waving in the chorus.

Camera-Ready

Sessions build toward a clean full-out run you can film, so a group of mates walks away with an actual cover to post, not only a memory.

Comes to You

We set up where your group already is, anywhere across Canterbury and East Kent, so nobody is trekking across the city after lectures or work.

Your K-Pop Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

01

Getting the Basics

Getting Started

Learning to isolate — clean wrists, sharp head, controlled hips — and picking a first track the group actually wants. The point moves come almost immediately.

What to Wear

Streetwear you can move in and clean flat trainers with grip. Bring water and, if you like, the outfit energy of the group you are covering.

02

Learning the Choreography

Section by Section

The routine taught mirrored and slowed, chorus first, so you hold the recognisable part before filling in the verses.

Detail Work

The little authentic touches — facings, finger points, the exact timing of a hit — that separate a real cover from a rough copy.

03

Group Performance

Formations & Sync

Placing the group in space, drilling the switches and chasing that satisfying moment when everyone lands the same beat together.

Energy & Expression

Adding the facial performance and attack up at full speed, so the cover has character rather than just correct arms.

04

Cover Complete

Filming the Cover

A polished full run, an optional group take for the camera, and the buzz of watching your own version back.

Where Next

Pick a harder track, add a second group's choreography, or fold in the commercial and hip-hop bases that K-pop constantly borrows from.

K-Pop in Canterbury FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

What is K-pop dance? +

It is learning the choreography of Korean pop groups exactly as performed — precise point moves, synchronised formations and rapid energy changes across a track. A cover recreates a specific routine rather than improvising to the song.

Do I need dance experience? +

No. We start with simple isolations and the most recognisable point moves, then layer detail. Beginners and fans who have only danced in their room are welcome; over-17s of any level fit in fine.

Where in Canterbury do sessions run? +

We do not hold a fixed weekly venue — we bring K-pop sessions to a hired hall or your own space across Canterbury and East Kent, from the city centre and St Dunstan's out to the campuses and beyond. You tell us where suits the group.

How much is it? +

A local drop-in session is £8, paid on the day. Private group covers and parties at your venue are quoted separately once we know the track, numbers and date — straightforward pricing, no competitor-matching.

How do people usually travel in? +

Canterbury West and Canterbury East stations sit on different lines, both a short walk from the centre through the gates — there is no tram. For venues in the outer ring we will point out the nearest stop or parking when we confirm.

Can my friends and I learn a specific song? +

Absolutely — that is the ideal way to book here. Choose your track and group, gather a few people, and we build the whole session around covering that routine, right down to the formations.

What should we wear? +

Comfortable streetwear you can move sharply in and clean flat trainers with grip. Many groups lean into the outfit vibe of the idols they are covering, but that is entirely optional.

Will we actually finish a full routine? +

Over a focused session you will complete and clean a section or a short full cover, depending on the track's difficulty and your numbers. We aim for something you can run full-out and film by the end.

Is K-pop a real workout? +

Yes — the constant energy switches, sharp hits and full-out repetition get the heart going and demand real stamina and control, all while you are concentrating too hard to notice you are sweating.
