Dance Jobs in Canterbury
Teacher and choreographer roles across Canterbury and the surrounding Kent towns — flexible freelance hours from £22 an hour, built around the performing career you already have.
Join Our Canterbury Team
The work in Canterbury keeps multiplying: a school workshop one morning, a beginners' street class that evening, three hen groups over a Saturday, a first-dance couple on the Sunday. All of it needs trained dancers who can actually hold a room.
Paid Properly
Weekly teaching pays from £22 an hour; hen and wedding choreography from £25. Every rate is fixed before you start and lands in your account on schedule — you will never be chasing an invoice.
Around Your Career
You set the availability and we fill it. Most of our Canterbury teachers do two to ten hours a week between auditions, contracts and tours — and pause the moment other work calls.
Room to Build
Start a weekly class and let our promotion fill the room while you concentrate on the teaching. Casting calls come through from the events side of the business, and nothing stops you adding roles as you find your feet.

Dance Jobs in Canterbury FAQ
Common questions from instructors weighing up joining the Canterbury team.
Do I need a formal teaching qualification to apply?
A qualification helps but is never a must. We hire on real training, stage experience and whether you can command a room of strangers. A good few of our strongest teachers came to it from performing and picked up the teaching along the way.
What do dance instructors actually get paid here?
A weekly class starts at £22 an hour; step up to hen parties or wedding first dances and it is £25. We settle the figure before each job, pay promptly, and nudge it upward as your hours with us grow.
Which styles have openings at the moment?
Every one of the twenty styles we run, ballet right through to K-pop, heels and street, plus separate openings for hen instructors and wedding choreographers. Cover three or four of them and your Canterbury week tends to book up first.
Is this full-time work or freelance?
Purely freelance, and it bends to your diary. One teacher might hold a single Tuesday class; another threads together classes, Saturday hen groups and daytime school work into an almost-full week. Take as little or as much as suits — none of it expires.
I still perform and audition — does teaching fit around that?
Honestly, that describes most of the people already on the Canterbury books — jobbing performers slotting classes between contracts. Send over the shape of your week, we fit teaching into the gaps, and freeze it the moment a tour lands.
