Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0–10 mins

Sharpen the Body

K-pop is precise, so the warm-up is precise too — ten minutes of tight isolations and clean starts and stops that get you ready to hit the shapes the choreography wants without wobbling.

10–25 mins

Piece by Piece

We take a section of a real routine and slow it right down, one shape at a time. The counts have to feel automatic before anything speeds up — rush this and none of it holds together.

25–40 mins

Spots and Angles

The formations are what make these videos. We map out the spacing — your spot, your angle, the way the line folds and reopens — so the group reads as one unit instead of a dozen people guessing.

40–50 mins

Bring It to Tempo

The section joins up and lifts to full speed. Now we layer in the small stuff: the sharp accents, the eye-line, the timing that only shows once the track is running properly.

50–60 mins

Watch It Back

Fancy filming it? A quick clip on your phone shows exactly what to tidy for next week. Then a proper stretch after an hour that finishes flat out.

About K-Pop Classes in Newcastle

No other pop style gets rehearsed like K-pop. Every accent snaps to the beat, the whole group rearranges itself mid-verse, and a camera is trained on all of it — which is why watching a video on repeat only gets you so far. Our k-pop dance classes in Newcastle go the long way round: real chart routines, girl groups and boy groups both, taught count by count until they properly hold.

It helps that Newcastle is such a student city. Two universities sit right in the middle of it, Newcastle and Northumbria, with a huge international intake, and a fair few of them turn up already living and breathing K-pop. The floor ends up young, mixed and keen. We teach from studios by the Monument and out in the Ouseburn quarter — a short walk or a Metro ride, wherever you happen to be based.

There is no need to have danced before, and Korean never comes into it — everything runs on counts. We keep the slow version watertight before touching the speed, so even your first night ends with a chorus you would happily record. The adult floor spans teenagers to seventy-somethings, under-18s have their own supervised sessions, and a class is £8 with nothing to join.

Why Choose K-Pop in Newcastle?

Real Choreography, Not Copies

These are the genuine title-track routines from boy and girl groups, scaled back just enough for a newcomer to stay with the room — never watered-down imitations.

A Proper Student City

Two central universities and a big international student body mean the class is packed with people at roughly your stage — the friendliest crowd to be a beginner in.

A Phone Clip That Helps

Filming is optional and genuinely useful — a weekly clip points straight at the corner that needs work. Would rather not be on camera? No one ever has to be.

Younger Fans Too

There are supervised, age-grouped sessions for teens and kids with vetted staff — routinely one of the most-booked things we run for that age bracket.

Your K-Pop Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Weeks 1–4

The Counts Come First

A First Section

One short slice of a real routine, drilled slowly. Clean and exact matters far more than fast at this stage — the speed can wait.

What to Pack

Kit you can move sharply in, clean indoor trainers, and a layer to lose — the hour heats up quicker than you would think.

The First Term

Faster, and in Formation

Lifting the Speed

Your slow version tightens and quickens, and the spacing arrives — where you move, when you spin, how the group locks together.

On Camera

The optional clips start, quietly flagging the one bit worth polishing for the week after.

Terms Two and Three

Routines End to End

Whole Songs

You begin carrying almost-complete chart routines, expression and accents included, rather than a handful of loose eight-counts.

More Range

We move through different groups and eras so you build a library of routines instead of drilling one into the ground.

The Long Run

Ready in One Take

Single-Pass Sharp

Precise, synced and confident enough to nail a whole routine first time, every facing sitting where it should.

Where to Take It

Group film days, our own events, or throwing yourself at the newest comeback the moment it lands.

K-Pop in Newcastle FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Will it matter that I've never danced and don't speak Korean? +

Not at all. Everything is taught in counts, so Korean never comes up, and total beginners are exactly who these classes are for. The counting clicks inside your first hour.

Do I have to let anyone film me? +

Only if you want to. The clips are there because they speed up your progress, but plenty of people never pick up a phone and improve just fine — it is never required.

How soon before I can do a whole routine? +

A solid section within a few weeks, most of a full routine inside a couple of months. Locking the slow version down first keeps it fun rather than frantic — just steady progress.

Which part of Newcastle are the classes in? +

Studios by the Monument in the centre and out in the Ouseburn quarter, with the exact one given when you book. Central Station is minutes away on foot or by Metro, and the centre is small enough to walk across.

Girl-group or boy-group routines? +

Both, rotating through the term. We pull real title tracks from right across K-pop with no fixed artist list — the slow, counted method handles whatever lands that week.

What does a class cost? +

£8 per drop-in, no membership, no tie-in. Once your local studio settles on a weekly slot, cheaper multi-week blocks appear next to it.

What should I wear? +

Something you can move crisply in and clean indoor trainers, plus a spare layer — the session climbs from a gentle warm-up to a full-out finish, so you heat up fast.

Can younger fans join in Newcastle? +

Yes — teens and kids have their own supervised, age-grouped classes, it is one of our most-requested for that age, and no prior dancing is needed to start.

New comebacks or older songs? +

A bit of both. We lean current but fold older favourites back in through the term, so you leave with a whole set of routines rather than one track worn out.
