Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Warm Up and Ground
We start with a warm-up that wakes up the core, ankles and hips — the trio that keeps you steady in a heel — and set the tone with a confident track. Stability first; the sass sits on top of a solid base.
The Walk
Everything in heels begins with the walk. We drill the runway strut, hips leading and weight controlled, until crossing the floor becomes a statement. Master this and the choreography suddenly has somewhere to live.
Attitude Toolkit
We add the signature moves — the body roll, the hair flick, the slow floorwork lower and the level changes — breaking each into a controlled count so it reads as powerful and deliberate rather than rushed.
Build the Routine
The moves link into a short, sultry combination to a current track. We work on selling it — the eyeline, the pauses, the intention behind each step — so the routine has as much command as it has choreography.
Full Run and Cool Down
We run the finished routine full-out a few times, often filming a take so you can see how far you have come, then stretch out the calves and feet properly. You leave taller, bolder and a little bit fabulous.
About Heels Classes in Middlesbrough
Heels is the strut with the swagger turned up — sultry, powerful commercial choreography danced in a block or stiletto heel, made famous by pop tours, dance-studio reels and every confident routine you have saved to watch again. It fuses the polish of commercial with the attitude of a catwalk, teaching you to command a floor: the walk, the body roll, the hair flick and the slow, deliberate control that makes a heel look effortless. Under the glamour there is real technique — balance, core strength and posture — and the payoff is pure confidence.
Middlesbrough goes out with intent, and heels is made for that energy. The Baker Street and Bedford Street bars turn the town centre into a proper night out most weekends, and the local commercial and street scene — The Loft Studios on Linthorpe Road keeps that side of things busy — has built a real appetite for choreography with a bit of front. Our heels dance classes in Middlesbrough channel exactly that: the confidence of a big Teesside night distilled into a routine you can actually dance. We reference the local scene as inspiration only, with no partnership or endorsement of any kind.
You do not need to be able to walk a catwalk, own designer shoes or have danced before — we start with balance and posture and build from there, and trainers are absolutely fine for your first few weeks while you find your feet. A low block heel is easier than a stiletto to begin with. Wear kit you feel strong in and bring water. Your studio is confirmed when you book, and every drop-in is a flat £8 with nothing to sign.

Why Choose Heels in Middlesbrough?
Serious Confidence
Nothing builds self-assurance quite like learning to own a room in a heel. Dancers tell us the boldness follows them out of the studio and into work, nights out and the way they carry themselves day to day.
Posture and Poise
Dancing in heels forces a tall, engaged posture and a switched-on core, and that strength quietly reshapes how you stand and walk everywhere. Good alignment is a gift your back keeps thanking you for.
Every Body Welcome
Heels is about attitude, not a particular shape, height or shoe size. The routines are built to make whoever is dancing them feel powerful, and the room is warm and cheering from your very first class.
Strength in Disguise
All that controlled walking, lowering and balancing is a genuine workout for the legs, core and ankles. It is strength training that feels like a music video, and your body absolutely notices the difference.
Your Heels Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
Finding Your Feet
Balance First
Early weeks are all about stability, posture and the basic walk, because confidence in a heel is built on a steady base. We keep the choreography short so you can focus on control and carriage rather than counts.
What to Wear
Trainers are completely fine to begin with, then a low block heel when you feel ready — a stiletto can wait. Wear kit you feel strong in and bring water; there is more leg work here than you might expect.
Owning the Walk
Strut and Signature Moves
The walk gets bolder and you add the body rolls, hair flicks and level changes that give heels its flavour, learning to make each one land with control rather than rushing to the next.
Building Stamina
The combinations grow longer and you develop the ankle strength and staying power to dance a full routine in heels without your legs waving the white flag halfway through.
Turning On the Power
Selling the Routine
Beyond the steps you work on performance — the eyeline, the attitude, the deliberate pauses — so the choreography reads as commanding. This is where the routine stops being learned and starts being owned.
Filming Back
We film full takes so you can watch your progress, which sharpens everything and is oddly addictive. Seeing yourself grow in confidence on playback is a real turning point for most dancers.
Strut Anywhere
Where It Leads
Some dancers carry the confidence straight into commercial or performance work; plenty simply return each week for the lift it gives them. Both are exactly right, and the door stays open either way.
Gather the Group
Heels is a firm favourite for hen dos and birthdays — bold, empowering and a guaranteed laugh. Tell us your group and a track everyone loves and we will build a fierce one-off around it.
Heels in Middlesbrough FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Do I need to be able to walk in heels already? +
Not at all. We build heel confidence from scratch, starting with balance and posture, and you are welcome in trainers for the first few weeks while you find your feet. Steadiness comes faster than most people expect.
What is a heels class actually like? +
It is powerful, sultry commercial choreography danced in a heel — the walk, body rolls, floorwork and attitude you see in pop routines. It is as much about confidence and command as it is about the steps themselves.
What should I wear and what heel? +
Kit you feel strong and comfortable in, plus a low block heel once you are ready — it is far easier to start in than a stiletto. Trainers are genuinely fine at first. Bring water; your legs work hard.
Where in Middlesbrough are classes held? +
In studios around the town centre near Centre Square and on the Linthorpe side, confirmed when you book. We keep to central Middlesbrough rather than the separate Tees Valley towns such as Stockton, Yarm or Redcar.
How much is a class? +
A flat £8 per drop-in session, every time, with no membership, no block and no contract. You come to the weeks that suit you and leave the ones that do not — it is entirely pay-as-you-go.
Is heels suitable for all body types? +
Completely. Heels celebrates attitude over any particular shape, height or size, and the choreography is designed to make whoever is dancing it feel powerful. The room is supportive and encouraging from your first visit.
Will it hurt my feet or back? +
We start low and build gradually, warm up the ankles and core properly and teach control rather than teetering, all of which protects your feet and back. Trainers early on and a sensible block heel keep it comfortable.
Is there an age limit? +
Our adult classes run from 17 to 75. Heels attracts a wide spread of ages, and because we teach control and confidence rather than reckless height, everyone can join in at their own level.
Can we book a private group? +
Absolutely — heels is one of our most popular hen and birthday bookings for good reason. Pick a track your group loves, tell us your numbers, and we will choreograph a bold, empowering one-off session around it.
