Class Structure
Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Warm Into the Groove
Loosen off to a current track until the head nods and the knees give, finding the bounce and rock that every hip-hop step is stacked on top of.
A Party Dance a Week
Each session hands you one social dance and where it came from — the era that gave us the Running Man, the Dougie or whatever is filling phone screens right now.
Learn the Choreography
A short routine fed in a few counts at a time, marked slowly, then bolted together and looped to the track until it lives in your body.
Make It Yours
The same steps, angled your way — weight dropped lower, accents snapped harder, the timing sat a hair behind — the flavour that tells dancers apart.
Run It and Cool Down
Small groups take the floor in turn and dance it at full tilt while the rest supply the volume, then a long stretch to finish.
About Hip-Hop Classes in Bradford
Bradford is the youngest major city in the UK, and it shows on any dancefloor — a young, mixed, City-of-Culture crowd with a real appetite for performing. Our hip-hop dance classes in Bradford tap that without cheating the name: the grooves, the party dances and the choreography that genuinely belong to hip-hop, rather than a quick tour of everything shelved under urban.
The broader street family — locking, popping, breaking and house — sits in our street dance class; this hour stays put inside hip-hop and goes deep. We teach from partner studios around the city centre and the independent bars of North Parade, the exact one confirmed when you book. Two stations sit in the middle of town, so an after-work class is no trek.
Arriving unable to do a single step is the norm here, not the exception — we open on the bounce and add one layer at a time. Adults from 17 to 75 share the main floor, juniors and teens train separately under DBS-checked teachers, and a drop-in is £8 with nothing to sign — less than a round of drinks on North Parade, and you walk out able to dance a proper eight.

Why Choose Hip-Hop in Bradford?
Hip-Hop, Not a Grab Bag
We stay inside real hip-hop — grooves, party dances and choreography — instead of skimming the whole street family in a single hour.
The Youngest City's Crowd
Bradford has the lowest median age of any big UK city, so the floor is full, mixed and up for it — you are never the odd one out.
Juniors and Teens Too
Age-grouped classes for younger dancers, taught by DBS-checked professionals — hip-hop is one of the most asked-for kids' sessions we run.
A City That Performs
Bradford spent 2025 as UK City of Culture and it left a taste for the stage — showcases and events are there whenever you want them.
Your Hip-Hop Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
Lock Into the Bounce
Getting Going
Grooves, bounces and your first party dances. We chase rhythm and nerve before anything fancy gets a look-in.
What to Bring
Joggers, a loose top and flat trainers with a bit of cushion. Comfort wins, and a water bottle helps.
Build a Vocabulary
More Dances
A growing bank of party dances and the counts to string them together, so the choreography stops feeling random.
First Freestyle
Short, guided improv drills that teach you to move without a set plan — the skill hip-hop is really about.
Find Your Flavour
Your Style
Longer routines and harder counts, plus the accents and timing that make the same steps read as yours.
Perform If You Fancy
Optional showcase slots — Bradford is a City of Culture with stages going spare.
Part of the Room
Going Further
Confident across routines, comfortable freestyling, starting to build combinations of your own.
What Next
Battles, jams, our own showcases, or specialising in the corner of hip-hop that grabbed you.
Hip-Hop in Bradford FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
What's the difference between your hip-hop and street dance classes in Bradford? +
Street dance is the umbrella — locking, popping, breaking and house on rotation. Hip-hop is one member of that family, and this class stays in it: grooves, party dances and choreography, gone into properly. Plenty of people take both.
Where in Bradford are the hip-hop classes held? +
At partner studios around the city centre and North Parade, with kids' groups spread a little wider across the district. The exact venue lands with your booking confirmation, and everything sits within a short walk of the two central stations.
How much is a hip-hop class in Bradford? +
£8 for a drop-in — no membership, no contract, turn up when it suits. Discounted block bookings open once the regular timetable for your nearest studio is set.
I've never danced before — is that a problem? +
Not at all. We start every course on the bounce, the one move everybody can find, and add from there. In the beginner sessions total newcomers are the majority, not the brave exception.
What should I wear to hip-hop? +
Clothes you can move and sweat in, and flat trainers with a cushioned sole. Hip-hop has always rewarded personal style, so past that, wear whatever feels like you.
Do you teach party dances or set choreography? +
Both, every week. You pick up a social party dance and its backstory, then learn a short choreographed routine — the two feed each other, and by the end of a term you can do a bit of each.
What ages do you teach? +
The main class runs 17 to 75. Under-17s have their own junior and teen bands with DBS-checked teachers. Tell us your age on the enquiry form and we will place you in the right room.
Is there freestyling, or just routines? +
There's guided freestyle in most sessions — short improv games, never a spotlight nobody asked for. It is where hip-hop actually breathes, and by a few weeks in most people are keen to have a go.
Can you bring hip-hop to my school or venue in Bradford? +
Yes — we tour the whole Bradford district and up the Aire Valley to Shipley, Bingley and Keighley, plus over to Halifax. School workshops, birthdays and youth sessions all work. Mention the venue on the form.
