Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0:00 – 0:10

Warm Up Inside the Song

The warm-up runs on the actual track we are covering, tempo counted out through the feet first, so that by the time the fiddly bars land the pulse already lives in your legs instead of being read cold off the music.

0:10 – 0:25

Broken Into Short Runs

The routine is sliced into brief runs, each demonstrated face-on, then side-on, then from the back, every angle taken well under tempo — and one run is secured before the following one is handed out.

0:25 – 0:40

Angles and Formations

A real stretch of the hour is spent on where you stand and the direction you turn, because what makes a group look razor-sharp on camera is rarely the hands — it is the formations they assemble and pull apart in unison across the room.

0:40 – 0:50

Up to Speed, as One

The runs are stitched together and driven up to full tempo, the entire line hitting every accent, freeze and turn on precisely the same beat, so the group reads as one figure rather than several.

0:50 – 1:00

A Take, Then Cool Down

Should the room fancy it, we record a pass in the same way idol groups polish a cover — entirely optional — and then take a proper stretch to close the hour out.

About K-Pop Classes in Plymouth

K-pop dance is pop honed to a needlepoint — each movement snapping onto the beat, formations that clamp together then scatter, a line of dancers moving like one image mirrored over and over. That precision is the whole reason it repays being taught properly rather than paused-and-guessed off a phone. Our Plymouth class pulls real idol choreography to pieces and builds it back a section at a time.

There is no dependable public K-pop timetable running in Plymouth — the odd cover-dance meet and student get-together appears and disappears through the year, but nothing you can simply show up to week after week. So we run our own instead. This is a standalone public class with its own teacher and its own room, open to any age, with nothing to enrol in, no student status required and no university term dates dictating when it happens.

You are not expected to have danced before — we assume you have not — and Korean never enters the room, because every count is called as a plain number. Nailing the slow version first is exactly what turns the full-tempo run from a scramble into something that actually pays off. A single class is £8, settled as you go; under-18s work in supervised age brackets, and we will happily bring the whole thing to a group of your own instead.

Why Choose K-Pop in Plymouth?

Open to Everyone, No Card Needed

It runs as an open public class, taught by our own instructor in our own room, so anyone can drop in at any age — nothing to enrol in, no membership, and no card wanted on the door.

Formations, Not Just Arms

We drill your position and your path through the floor, so the picture the group makes actually matches the music video — precisely the part that solo bedroom covers tend to skip.

Just Count in Numbers

Counts are called as ordinary numbers and nothing else, so there is no Korean vocabulary to memorise and no back-story to revise — only choreography split into runs you can properly grasp.

A Camera Take Each Week

Every session can finish with a filmed run, mirroring how the idol groups tidy up their own covers — and it is easily the quickest way to watch your timing and spacing tighten from one week to the next.

Your K-Pop Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

01

The Opening Sections

Where You Start

A few runs from a track that is charting right now, taught far below tempo, so a first-timer never trails the music.

What to Bring

Wear something you can throw sharp movements in, plus trainers with a bit of grip — the feet switch direction quickly as soon as the speed picks up.

02

Tight and In Time

To Full Tempo

Those runs climb to full pace, loaded with the sharp freezes and the punchy accents that bring the whole style into focus.

Holding Position

Staying fixed to your mark while the formation folds in and opens back out between the verse and the chorus.

03

The Complete Piece

Start to Finish in One

The entire piece danced straight through, verse rolling into chorus with no seam where the runs were joined.

Moving as One Body

Matching your facing, your level and your timing to the dancers around you until the group looks like one person copied across the room.

04

Camera-Ready

Covers Fit to Post

Filmed runs and full covers polished to the point where posting one no longer feels like a gamble.

Into Whatever's On

By now you slip easily between our sessions and any cover-dance or one-off K-pop nights that appear around Plymouth over the year.

K-Pop in Plymouth FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Is there a Plymouth K-pop class I can just turn up to? +

Pretty much — because there isn't really another one. Plymouth doesn't have a settled, turn-up-any-week public K-pop class, just occasional cover-dance meets and student get-togethers that come and go. We made a permanent one instead: our own coach, our own room, open to the public, no card to buy and no university calendar deciding the dates. The choreography itself is the genuine article, pulled from real idol routines and rebuilt slowly.

Do I need any dancing experience? +

None at all. Each move is broken into little runs and slowed right down before the pace goes up, so complete beginners have no trouble staying with it. Nearly everyone here began from zero, in the very spot you are standing in now.

Do I need to know Korean? +

No. The counts come out as ordinary numbers, so you pick up the moves and the timing without a single Korean word becoming homework. A group you have never heard of is just as easy to learn as one you love.

Which artists and songs will we learn? +

A changing blend of recent and classic idol tracks, girl-group and boy-group choreography alike, decided together as the weeks go by. Stick around a little and your own suggestions start to shape what we cover next.

Where in Plymouth do the classes run? +

At partner studios around Drake Circus and the city centre — easy to reach for students and non-students alike — a short walk from Plymouth station. The precise room is confirmed after your booking goes in, and there is central and park-and-ride parking within reach.

How much does a K-pop class in Plymouth cost? +

One class costs £8, handed over on the day, with nothing to join. Once the class lands a fixed weekly slot we add reduced blocks, and if you would rather we brought the class out to your own group privately, that is quoted case by case.

Do you film the class? +

Only if everyone is comfortable with it. We shoot a short run near the end, the same way idol groups refine their covers, and it is comfortably the fastest route to seeing your spacing and sync improve. It always stays optional.

Is it a proper workout? +

More than most people bargain for. The relentless sharp movement and the endless formation switches really do get the heart pumping — plenty arrive for the music and go home having accidentally put in a serious stretch of cardio.

Is there an age limit? +

There is no top age whatsoever — grown-ups of any age are welcome on the main floor. Under-18s dance in age-banded groups of their own, supervised by vetted staff, so younger fans are looked after too.
