Class Structure
Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Charge Up
A lively warm-up to a film track gets the heart going and loosens the shoulders, wrists and hips — Bollywood asks a lot of all three, so we wake them early.
Hands and Expression
You learn the signature hand gestures and the bright, outward energy that makes Bollywood read from the back row — half the style lives in the arms and the face.
Feet and Bhangra Bounce
Footwork drills borrow from bhangra and classical Indian dance, building the bouncy, grounded steps the choreography is stitched from.
Building the Routine
The pieces assemble into a chunk of choreography to a well-known film song, learned in short, repeatable phrases.
Full Song, Full Beam
You run the routine through at full energy with the smiles switched on, then cool down and stretch out the shoulders and calves.
About Bollywood Classes in Peterborough
Bollywood dance is the exuberant fusion that powers Hindi film numbers — classical Indian moves, folk styles like bhangra and Western pop all thrown together and turned up to full brightness. It is expressive, high-energy and unapologetically joyful, carried as much by the hands and the face as by the feet.
Peterborough does not yet have a regular weekly Bollywood night, so our classes are instructor-led sessions built to fill that gap — a proper, welcoming home for the style rather than an afterthought. They run from a city-centre studio near Cathedral Square, with the exact room confirmed once your place is booked.
Bollywood is made for a crowd, which makes it a runaway favourite for hen dos, birthdays, Diwali celebrations and office parties. If a studio class is not what you are after, we bring the whole thing to you — village halls, community rooms and hired spaces across Peterborough and out to Whittlesey, Yaxley and the Fen towns.

Joy Is the Point

Storytelling Hands
The expressive hand gestures and facial energy are half the style, and learning them is what makes your dancing actually look Bollywood.

Hen parties, Diwali dos and birthdays across Peterborough and the Fens can have the class brought to their venue, music and all.

Bollywood in Peterborough FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Do I need any experience or an Indian dance background? +
None at all. Bollywood is a fusion that welcomes complete beginners, and no knowledge of classical Indian dance or the films is assumed. Everything is taught from the ground up, in short repeatable phrases, so anyone can follow.
Where in Peterborough do the Bollywood classes run? +
From a city-centre studio near Cathedral Square, a short walk from the railway station and the Queensgate bus interchange. The exact room is confirmed once you book, and for parties and groups we bring the class to your venue instead.
How much does a Bollywood class cost in Peterborough? +
It is a flat £8 each drop-in, paid on the day — no membership, nothing to sign. You pay for the sessions you come to, and discounted blocks will follow once the regular Peterborough schedule is settled.
What should I wear to a Bollywood class? +
Loose, comfortable clothes you can move and sweat in, and trainers with a little grip for the bounce and footwork. Bright colours and bangles add to the fun if you fancy it, but they are never required.
Is Bollywood a good workout? +
Very — the constant bounce, the big arm movements and the full-song run-throughs make it genuine cardio. Most people are surprised how warm and breathless a joyful hour of Bollywood leaves them, and how much the core gets involved.
Is it suitable for all ages? +
Yes — Bollywood is a family-friendly, all-ages style, and adults from complete beginners upward are exactly who the class is for. Age-grouped sessions for younger dancers can be arranged too; just ask on the enquiry form.
Can you run a Bollywood class for a hen party or Diwali celebration? +
Absolutely — it is one of our most popular group bookings. We bring the whole class, music included, to your venue anywhere across Peterborough and the Fens, whether it is a hen do, a birthday or a Diwali party. Just send your date and numbers.
Will we dance to actual film songs? +
Yes — the routines are set to well-known Hindi film numbers, which is half the joy of it. We use the songs themselves, never printed lyrics, and choose tracks the group will recognise and want to move to.
I am worried I will feel self-conscious — is that normal? +
Completely normal, and it fades fast. Bollywood's outward, smiling energy is the best cure for self-consciousness there is — within a song or two the grinning takes over, and everyone is far too busy enjoying themselves to watch anyone else.
