Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0–10 mins

Warm-Up & Isolations

Cardio raise, mobility work and body isolations — chest, hips, shoulders — building the control that gives commercial choreography its snap.

10–25 mins

Groove Foundations

Core commercial textures drilled to current chart tracks: bounce, rock, hits and travelling steps you will meet again in every routine you ever learn.

25–40 mins

Learning the Combo

The week's routine taught in short chunks, layered slowly and repeated until your body stops needing the counts.

40–50 mins

Performance Layer

Facials, focus and attack — the detail that separates doing the steps from selling them, coached one layer at a time.

50–60 mins

Full-Out Groups

Small groups run the combo full-out while the rest of the room cheers — filmed on request for anyone who wants the progress clip — then a proper stretch.

About Commercial Classes in London

Commercial dance is London's shop window. The UK's music videos are shot here, tours rehearse here and televised performances are staged here — and the choreographers who run those rooms pass their habits down into the capital's classes. Our commercial classes in London are taught by dancers from that working world, set to what is charting now rather than what charted a decade ago.

Beginners are the point, not an afterthought. Routines arrive in small chunks, layered patiently and repeated until they stick, so you build pick-up speed — the industry's core skill — from your first session. Classes are based at studios across Zones 1 and 2, Soho and Camden among them, every venue minutes from a tube stop for the straight-from-work crowd.

If you have ambitions, this is the right postcode: most UK commercial castings happen in London, and training here means training at the tempo and in the styles those auditions actually use. And if you simply want the best hour of your week, that works too — most of the room is dancing purely for the joy of it.

Why Choose Commercial in London?

Taught by Working Dancers

Your teachers spend their days on video shoots and tour rehearsals across the capital — the class is their working craft, passed straight down.

Always Current

Routines are set to what is charting this month. Commercial moves fast, and a London class is where it moves first.

Audition-City Advantage

The UK's commercial castings are overwhelmingly held in London — train at the pace and in the style the panel will actually ask for.

A Workout in Disguise

An hour of full-out choreography burns like a gym session but feels like a night out — which is exactly why half the room keeps coming back.

Your Commercial Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Week 1–4

Learn the Language

Getting Started

Isolations, grooves and your first short combos. Expect to feel a step behind — everyone does — and to catch up faster than you think.

What to Wear

Trainers with grip, joggers or leggings, and layers you can shed as the room heats up. No special kit required.

Month 2–3

Pick-Up Speed

Faster Combos

Routines get longer and the teaching gets quicker, deliberately — absorbing choreography fast is the skill everything else sits on.

Finding Your Flavour

Commercial borrows from hip-hop, jazz and heels; this is when you notice which flavour your body naturally prefers.

Month 4–6

Performance Mode

Selling the Routine

Focus, facials and attack become the coaching priority — dancing to be watched rather than just to be correct.

On Camera

Filmed run-throughs become routine, and watching yourself back quietly turns from horror into homework.

Month 6+

Industry Pace

Advanced Training

Audition-speed pick-up, styling choices of your own and routines that would hold up on a professional set.

Where It Leads

Castings, commercial agencies and London's audition circuit for the ambitious — or simply the best-danced hour of your week, kept forever.

Commercial in London FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Which parts of London host the commercial classes? +

Zones 1 and 2 — Soho and Camden are our regular studios — with the exact venue confirmed at registration and every one of them a few minutes' walk from the tube.

What does a commercial class in London cost? +

Each drop-in is £8, paid per session with no contract or membership behind it. Discounted blocks arrive once your studio's regular timetable is locked in.

Can I start commercial dance with zero experience? +

Yes — beginner sessions assume nothing and break every routine into small, repeatable chunks. Commercial has no rigid technique to fail at, which makes it one of the friendliest doors into dance.

What do people wear to commercial classes? +

Trainers with decent grip, plus joggers or leggings and a top you can sweat in. Commercial culture rewards a bit of personal style, but comfort wins for the first month.

Will these classes prepare me for auditions? +

That is exactly what the format builds towards: fast pick-up, performance detail and current styles — the three things a London casting panel tests. Your teachers will tell you honestly when you are ready and where to look.

What music do you use? +

Current chart, R&B and pop — the tracks commercial jobs are actually set to — refreshed constantly. If it is on your playlist this month, it will reach class soon.

What is the difference between commercial and street dance? +

Street dance is a family of foundation styles with their own cultures — locking, popping, breaking. Commercial is the polished, camera-facing choreography built for videos and tours, borrowing from all of them. Plenty of our dancers train both.

Do you film the class? +

The final full-out run is often filmed for anyone who wants it — the fastest feedback tool there is — but appearing on camera is always opt-in. Dancers step out of shot every week, no questions asked.

Do you run commercial classes for teens and kids? +

Yes — separate teen and children's groups run alongside the adult timetable, taught by DBS-checked professionals. Commercial is consistently the most requested style among our London teens.
