Ease Everyone In
We kick off with something undemanding — one feel-good track at a comfortable pace, just enough to loosen the legs and get folk nattering while they fan out into rows across the floor.
The Handful of Steps
Nearly every dance is built from one small kit of moves — grapevines, heel digs, quarter-turns and their relations — so we drill those first, taken slowly, until the name being called is all it takes to send your feet the right way.
Assemble the Whole Thing
The dance gets put together a wall at a time, each chunk looped until it holds. Since the caller names every move right on the beat, not one part of it has to be committed to memory in advance.
Drop the Real Track
In comes the proper song now — a bit of chart pop one week, some Motown or fifties rock-and-roll the next — with the caller still working the mic to catch anybody who wanders off the count.
A Few Last Goes, Then Loosen Off
To wrap up, a few unhurried run-throughs of the finished dance, every stray foot met with a grin, and a brisk stretch so you head off limber rather than seizing up on the walk back to the car.
About Line Dancing Classes in Hull
Always fancied a dance but can't stand the thought of people watching? Line dancing quietly deletes the whole worry. There is no partner to track down, you are never once asked to improvise, and a caller sings out each step a beat before you need it. Our line dance classes in Hull stretch miles beyond the Stetson-and-boots picture in your head — the speakers serve up soul, Motown, chart pop and a fair bit of rock-and-roll alongside anything country.
Because it is a solo dance danced in rows, showing up alone could not feel more ordinary, and the span of ages in the room beats every other class we run. Hull's real edge, though, is how far we will travel: loads of regulars come into the city, but we are just as glad to bring the entire class to a hall on your own doorstep — Beverley, Hessle, Cottingham, Hedon, Anlaby, Willerby, or out toward Hornsea and Withernsea. In town, we run from studios near the city centre and the Fruit Market, confirmed as soon as you book.
A single session is £8 and ties you to nothing — come the once, leave having learned a whole dance, and only then work out whether you fancy another. Leave the hat and boots at home; honestly all it takes is flat shoes that pivot easily and the good grace to laugh off a wrong foot now and then. The adult floor welcomes every age going, and under-18s dance under the eye of vetted staff.

Why Choose Line Dancing in Hull?
Turning Up Alone Is Easy
Because the whole room faces one way doing identical steps, nobody's left stranded while couples pair off. You drop into a gap in a line and you're away, straight into the dance with everyone else.
Zero Homework
The caller announces each move a beat before it's due, so there's nothing to second-guess. Total newcomers routinely dance entire routines on their first evening having swotted up on precisely nothing.
We Bring It to You
The whole show folds down and heads out across East Yorkshire — Beverley, Hessle, Cottingham, Hedon, Hornsea and further — which makes laying on a class in a hall near home a genuinely simple thing to arrange.
Nine to Ninety, No Exaggeration
Nothing else on our books spans the ages like this. Gentle on the joints, sociable by its very nature, and quite possibly the least intimidating room in the place to wander into on your own.
Your Line Dancing Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
Tuning the Ear
Your First Dances
You get familiar with the small clutch of core steps and, slowly and with heaps of repetition, string them into a routine or two — and yes, you'll dance a full one before you leave that opening evening.
On Your Feet
Just comfy everyday clothes and flat shoes with a sole that spins without catching. The cowboy hat and the boots stop at home — none of that dressing-up is asked of you.
Filling the Locker
A Growing Collection
A new routine tends to land most weeks, drawn from all manner of music, so your personal stash of dances builds up steadily — and not one bit of it ever feels like swotting.
The Moment It Clicks
Sooner or later a step gets called and your feet just go, no thinking required. That's usually the point the whole business quietly settles into place and stays there.
Hitting Your Stride
Faster on the Uptake
New dances land quicker, the longer runs stay together, and little by little you notice you're leaning on the caller a bit less with each week that goes by.
The Regulars
Familiar faces, a laid-back room, a little crew who look out for each other — for a great many people that company turns out to be the real reason they keep coming back.
A Face on the Floor
Reading Them Cold
Your repertoire runs deep enough that a dance you've never clapped eyes on can be picked up on the spot, whatever the caller decides to lob at the room next.
Where It Goes
Themed nights, our own socials, or the plain joy of coaxing a 'two left feet' friend along and watching them fall for it in front of you.
Line Dancing in Hull FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Is it strictly country music? +
Nowhere close. There's a bit of country in there, of course, but you'll get every bit as much Motown, soul, disco, chart pop and old-school rock-and-roll. The steps don't change with the song, so keeping the music varied is exactly how the sessions hold their spark.
Will you honestly travel out to us in East Yorkshire? +
We will, and it's arguably where line dancing comes into its own. Point us at a hall anywhere in the county — Beverley, Hessle, Cottingham, Hedon, Anlaby, Willerby, Hornsea, Withernsea — and we'll run the whole class there. Drop your location on the form and we'll pin down a date.
I've genuinely never danced — will I be able to follow? +
Yes — beginners are precisely who this is designed around. Every step gets called as it comes up, the routines are built gently with plenty of repetition, and most first-timers finish the night having danced a full one all the way through.
Do I need to bring somebody with me? +
Not a chance, and truthfully that's half the appeal. You're all doing the same steps in rows, all pointing the same way, so rolling up on your own vanishes into the crowd from the very first number. Plenty come solo and leave with a whole fresh set of faces.
Have I got to dress up like a cowboy? +
Not one bit. All that's really needed is comfortable clothes and flat shoes that turn without sticking. The hats and boots only ever appear for the fun of a themed night, and even then nobody's making you wear them.
Where in Hull are the studio classes? +
They run at partner studios near the city centre and around the Fruit Market, with the venue nailed down once you've booked. And if trekking into the city is a nuisance, don't forget we'll bring the class to a hall near you anywhere across East Yorkshire.
What's the damage? +
It's £8 a class, handed over on the night, with nothing to join. As soon as a regular weekly time is set at your nearest studio, you can grab cheaper multi-week blocks instead of paying every time you turn up.
Am I past it for this? +
Almost certainly not. Little else we teach draws in such a wide sweep of ages, it's kind on the knees, and there's nobody hurrying you along. A good few of our regulars only took it up after retiring and haven't looked back since.
Could I book it for a group or a hen do? +
Very much so — a one-off group can take the line dancing hen party, and we'll set it up at any venue across East Yorkshire. When the group's a proper mix of abilities, few things break the ice quite as fast as this.
