Warm-Up With Attitude
A lively warm-up that loosens shoulders, wrists and hips and gets the smiles going — Bollywood runs on energy, so we switch it on early.
Hands and Expressions
The signature hand gestures and the bright, played-up facial expressions that make Bollywood read from the back row — half the style lives here.
Feet and Bounce
Bhangra-flavoured footwork and the bouncy step patterns that drive the routines, borrowing from folk, classical and a little street.
The Routine
We stack the pieces into a proper film-style routine to a well-known track, full of formation and flourish.
Full-Out and Cool-Down
One joyful run of the whole thing at full energy, then a stretch to bring the heart rate back down.
About Bollywood Classes in Southend-on-Sea
Bollywood dance is the exuberant style of Hindi cinema — a joyful mix of folk, classical Indian and a dash of street and pop, built for big, smiling, full-out routines. It is as much about expression and energy as precise steps, which makes it one of the most forgiving and fun styles for a beginner to try.
Southend does not yet have a settled weekly Bollywood night, so our classes are instructor-led — run from a seafront studio near the High Street when there is a group, and very often brought directly to parties and venues around the town. Whatever suits your group, we will arrange it.
That flexibility is a feature: we cover Southend and the wider south Essex map, from Leigh-on-Sea to Rayleigh and Rochford. Book a one-off for a birthday, a Diwali celebration or a hen do, and the whole colourful routine comes to you.

Bollywood in Southend-on-Sea FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Can total beginners keep up? +
Easily. Bollywood is taught step by step and forgives a lot — energy and expression matter more than sharp technique, especially early on. Most people arrive having never tried it and leave with a routine and aching cheeks from grinning.
Where and how do the classes run in Southend? +
We do not yet have a fixed weekly hub, so sessions are instructor-led at a seafront studio near the High Street and, very often, brought straight to groups and venues across the area. Tell us what suits and we will arrange it.
How much is a session? +
Eight pounds a class, paid on the day — no membership, no contract. You only pay for the sessions you attend, and discounted blocks will follow once a regular Southend timetable is set.
Is it a good workout? +
Very. The tempo, the bounce and the full-body movement add up to a proper cardio session, but the fun disguises it completely — most people are surprised how puffed they are by the final run-through.
What should I wear? +
Comfortable clothes you can move and sweat in, and trainers with a little grip. Bangles, bright colours and a scarf add to the spirit if you fancy it, but nothing special is needed to start.
Do I have to do the big facial expressions? +
They are encouraged, because expression is half of what makes Bollywood Bollywood — but nobody is forced. Most people find the confidence to ham it up within a couple of sessions, and it is where the real fun lives.
Is it suitable for all ages? +
Yes — the energy suits teens through to older adults, and routines can be pitched to the group in front of us. For a children's party or a mixed-age group we simply adjust the pace and the choreography to fit.
Will I have to perform? +
Only if you want to. There is no compulsory show — but Bollywood routines are made for occasions, so plenty of groups book us precisely to perform at a party, a birthday or a Diwali celebration.
Can you bring Bollywood to a hen party or event? +
That is a big part of what we do here — a come-to-you Bollywood class is a brilliant hen or celebration booking. We travel across Southend and south Essex, from Leigh-on-Sea to Rayleigh. Add your date and numbers on the form.
