Class Structure
Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Warm-Up & the Grid
A gentle loosener, then the floor basics — walls, turns and how a dance rotates a quarter each time through, so the room shares a language.
Building Blocks
Grapevines, kick-ball-changes, weave and coaster steps — the named moves that nearly every line dance reshuffles.
First Dance of the Night
Chaining those blocks into a full beginner dance, walked through slowly before the music, then run to the track.
Add a Track, Add a Turn
A second, slightly bolder dance that brings in a turn and a genre switch, from country to pop or soul.
Social Floor & Requests
Running the night's dances back to back for the fun of it, with room for requests and a wind-down.
About Line Dancing Classes in Northampton
Line dancing is the rare class where a first-timer gets a proper dance floor from night one. Nobody needs a partner and nobody takes anything home to practise — the moves are called out just ahead of the beat, and you learn by watching and doing. It is not all Stetsons and country either; the playlist leans just as happily on pop, soul and rock and roll.
What sets these nights apart is how far the class will travel. Many dancers come to a town-centre session, but a line class works beautifully in a local hall, so for groups we take the caller, the music and the whole night to you — Weston Favell, Wootton, Kingsthorpe, Duston, and deeper into Northamptonshire on request.
No costume is expected — leave the hat and boots at home if you like. The one thing that matters underfoot is a smooth sole that will pivot rather than catch on a turn. It is £8 to dance, and few classes bring generations together like this one: a teenager and a grandparent side by side in the same row is normal here, with under-eighteens supervised throughout.

Why Choose Line Dancing in Northampton?
We Come to You
Beyond the town-centre session, we take the full line night out across Northamptonshire — village halls, clubs and parties all welcome.
The Widest Age Range
No class we run mixes generations more freely; teens through to grandparents dance the same lines, no partner required.
Country Optional
Boots and Stetsons are welcome but never expected — the music spans pop, soul and rock and roll as much as country.
It Sticks Fast
Line dances repeat and rotate, so the steps lodge quickly and you are dancing whole numbers within a single session.
Your Line Dancing Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
Your First Dances
Getting Started
The core moves — grapevine, weave, coaster step — and your first two or three complete beginner dances.
What to Wear
Comfortable clothes and smooth-soled shoes that pivot easily. Hats and boots strictly optional.
Growing the Repertoire
More Dances
New routines each week across genres, from country classics to pop and soul, adding turns and syncopation.
Confidence
Following the caller less and trusting your own memory more, so the dances flow without hesitation.
The Social Floor
Repertoire
A stack of dances you can perform on request, and the knack of picking up a new one on the spot.
Community
Knowing the regulars, the favourites and the shape of a good night — line dancing is as much social club as class.
Regular & Ready
Advanced Dances
Longer, quicker routines with restarts and tags, the ones that keep experienced dancers hooked.
Where Next
Themed nights, group bookings and events across the county whenever you want more floor.
Line Dancing in Northampton FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Will you really bring a line dancing class out to us? +
Yes — it is what we are known for. Alongside the town-centre session we take the caller, music and whole night to Weston Favell, Wootton, Kingsthorpe, Duston and across Northamptonshire for groups, clubs and parties.
Do I need a partner for line dancing? +
Never. Everyone dances the same steps in rows facing the same way, so you turn up alone or with friends and are never left waiting to be paired off.
Is it all country music? +
Not at all. Country is in the mix, but a typical night leans just as much on pop, soul and rock and roll — the styles suit the steps far more than any single genre does.
Can a total beginner manage the first night? +
Easily. Dances are walked through slowly before the music, the caller names each move ahead of the beat, and the constant repetition means the steps stick within the session.
What should I wear on my feet? +
Smooth-soled shoes that pivot cleanly through a turn rather than gripping the floor. Trainers with a lot of grip actually make turning harder, so keep it simple and flat.
How much is a line dancing class in Northampton? +
A flat £8 per session, paid on the night. Group and come-to-you bookings are quoted separately depending on numbers and where in the county you are.
Where do the studio classes run in Northampton? +
From a venue close to the town centre, walkable from the North Gate bus station, with come-to-you sessions anywhere across Northamptonshire. The exact venue is confirmed once you book.
Am I too old to start line dancing? +
Not a chance. It is the most age-mixed class we run — teenagers and grandparents share the floor — and you set your own pace on the faster dances.
Could you put on a line dancing night for a party or group? +
Gladly. Hen dos, birthdays, clubs and community groups are our bread and butter; give us a rough headcount and a postcode on the form and we will bring the night to you.
