Class Structure

Beginners Class — 60 Minutes

0–10 mins

Isolations & Cardio Warm-Up

A punchy warm-up that wakes up the isolations commercial dance runs on — head, ribs and hips moving independently — with enough cardio to match the pace of a real music-video call.

10–25 mins

Pick-Up Drills

Short bursts of choreography thrown at you fast, because picking up quickly is the genuine industry skill. We break the counts down, then speed them back up until they stick.

25–40 mins

Learning the Routine

The main combo set to a current chart track — sharp, front-facing and full of attitude, taught section by section so every level leaves with the whole thing under their belt.

40–50 mins

Detail & Dynamics

Where a routine goes from known to good: the accents, the levels, the face and the hit-and-hold that reads on camera and fills out a stage.

50–60 mins

Groups & Optional Film

Smaller groups take the floor to perform, and we film it if the room fancies it — a low-stakes way to watch your own progress build week on week.

About Commercial Classes in Liverpool

Commercial dance is the choreography of pop — the sharp, front-on, camera-ready routines behind chart singles, tours and TV performances. Liverpool has music in its bones, and the pull toward this style runs deep here, from university crews to the studio and battle scene across the city.

You train at partner studios in the city centre and the Baltic Triangle creative quarter, each a few minutes from Lime Street and the Merseyrail underground loop — the exact base is confirmed when you book. The train in beats hunting for city-centre parking most nights.

Your teachers are working commercial dancers who spend their weeks on gigs, tours and shoots and their evenings passing the counts on. No experience is needed to start, and the room runs from nervous first-timers to trained dancers keeping their pick-up sharp between paid jobs — everyone learns the same routine together.

Why Choose Commercial in Liverpool?

Camera-Ready Sharpness

Everything is taught to read on screen and on stage — the clean hits, the attitude, the front-facing energy that makes commercial dance look like the videos it comes from.

Learn to Pick Up Fast

The single most useful skill in the room is taking choreography quickly. We train it every week, so you get sharper at learning anything, not just this one routine.

Always a Current Track

Routines are set to the songs actually charting now, so class feels less like a lesson and more like the performance you have already seen on your feed.

Taught by the Booked

Your teachers dance professionally — tours, gigs and shoots — and bring the real standards of the job into a class that is genuinely built for total beginners.

Your Commercial Journey

From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.

Week 1–4

Learn the Language

Getting Started

Isolations, grooves and your first fast pick-ups. The aim is confidence with counts and attitude — clean comes later, energy comes first.

What to Wear

Trainers with grip, comfy layers you can move and sweat in, and water. Kneepads earn their place once floorwork starts creeping into the routines.

Month 2–3

Sharpen Up

Pick-Up Speed

Choreography starts landing faster and you stop counting out loud. The detail work — accents and dynamics — begins to make your movement pop.

Performance Face

You learn that the face sells the routine as much as the body, and you start performing the material rather than simply remembering it.

Month 4–6

Performance Mode

Full Routines

Longer, tougher combos performed in groups, filmed when the room wants it, with real polish on the details that read on camera.

Finding Range

You start switching between smooth grooves and sharp hits, building the versatility commercial work quietly demands of everyone.

Month 6+

Industry Pace

Advanced Practice

Fast pick-ups, complex routines and the confidence to hold your own in any drop-in class in the country.

What Comes Next

Auditions, university crews, our own showcases, or simply the fittest and most camera-ready you have ever been.

Commercial in Liverpool FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Where in Liverpool are the commercial dance classes? +

At partner studios in the city centre and the Baltic Triangle, all within a short walk of Lime Street and the Merseyrail loop. Your exact venue is confirmed when you book, so you are never far from a train home.

How much does a commercial class in Liverpool cost? +

£8 on the door for a drop-in — no contract, no membership, nothing to cancel. Discounted blocks come in once your local studio's regular weekly slot is confirmed.

Do I need dance experience to join? +

No. We teach from the ground up, and the fast pick-ups are a skill we build with you, not one you need on day one. Total beginners and rusty returners share the room happily.

What should I wear and bring? +

Trainers with a bit of grip, clothes you can move and sweat in, and a water bottle. Once routines start using the floor, a pair of kneepads earns its place in your bag.

What kind of music will we dance to? +

Current chart and pop tracks — the songs you already know from radio, tours and your feed. Routines change with what is out, so the class always feels fresh rather than dated.

How is commercial different from street or hip-hop? +

Commercial is pop performance built for camera and stage — polished, front-facing and song-led. Street and hip-hop dig into the club and battle traditions instead. Plenty of Liverpool dancers train across all three.

Will we be filmed? +

Only if the room is up for it. We sometimes film the end-of-class group performance so you can track your progress — it stays within the class, and nobody is ever made to be on camera.

Can you teach a commercial routine for a hen party or event? +

Yes — a private group can learn a chart routine as a one-off, popular for hen weekends across Liverpool and for work socials. Mention it on the form and we will sort a session.

You already have a Liverpool dance site — why this one? +

This page is part of Dance Centre UK, a national network running the same classes in 67 cities. You get transparent pricing, a full beginners' structure and teaching that stays consistent wherever in the country you dance.
