Beginners Class — 60 Minutes
Warm-up and grooves
Bounce, rock and body rolls to current chart tracks — the foundation grooves that make choreography look natural rather than memorised.
Technique drills
Isolation work, direction changes and the sharp-then-smooth dynamics that define commercial style. Short drills, lots of repetition, zero judgement.
Learning the piece
The week's routine — a chorus and a bit of a current track — taught in eight-count blocks with names for everything so you can rebuild it at home.
Cleaning and dynamics
Same moves, better textures: hitting the accents, softening the transitions, finding the camera. This is where it starts looking like the video.
Groups and filming
Optional small-group runs, filmed on your own phone if you want it. Watching yourself back weekly is the fastest improvement tool we know.
About Commercial Classes in Doncaster
Commercial is the style you already consume daily — the choreography behind music videos, tours and TV performances — and our Doncaster class teaches it at a pace real humans can absorb. One routine a week from a current or classic chart track, plus the groove and isolation technique underneath, £8 in a city-centre studio.
If any city should believe a start in a local studio can lead somewhere, it is this one. Doncaster raised Louis Tomlinson from open-mic kid to world-touring artist, and Yungblud from local gigs to festival headliner — both proof that performing careers do begin in DN postcodes. Most of our dancers are here for fitter, sharper and more confident rather than famous, but the room happily holds both ambitions.
Expect current music, honest coaching and a class culture where the person who missed the last eight-count gets cheered through it, not stared at.

Why Choose Commercial in Doncaster?
Video-ready choreography
You learn full routines, not isolated steps — the kind you could perform, film or take into an audition, at whatever level you dance.
Dynamics over difficulty
Commercial rewards texture — sharp hits, smooth rolls — more than tricks. That means visible progress within weeks, not years.
£8, no commitment
Flat price per class, drop-in or block. Come the weeks you can; the routine resets weekly so you are never behind.
A genuinely mixed room
Teens-at-heart office workers, gym refugees, performing-arts students keeping sharp — the mix is the point and the energy shows it.
Your Commercial Journey
From first class to confident dancer — here is how it usually goes.
First month
Grooves installed
The basic bounce and rock patterns stop feeling like exercises and start feeling like your default response to music.
Choreography survival
You can hold a full chorus of choreography by the end of a class — messy is fine, finished is the win.
Months two and three
Picking up speed
Eight-counts go in faster each week; your brain has learned how commercial choreography is built and starts predicting it.
Performance face
You stop staring at the mirror in fear and start using it as a camera. Texture and attitude arrive together.
Six months
Style versatility
Sassy chart-pop, moody R&B, big theatrical numbers — you can shift style week to week and know what each asks of your body.
Freestyle courage
A groove section in the middle of the floor no longer terrifies you. It might even be your favourite bit.
The horizon
Stage or screen, if wanted
Dancers with ambitions get pointed at auditions, agencies and our own jobs page; the technique here is the industry's baseline.
Fit without the gym
For everyone else: an hour of cardio, coordination and memory work that never once feels like a workout plan.
Commercial in Doncaster FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class.
What exactly counts as commercial dance? +
The polished, camera-facing choreography used in music videos, tours and TV — a blend of street foundations, jazz lines and pop performance. If you have watched a chart artist's routine and thought that looks amazing, that is commercial.
How much is it, and where? +
£8 flat per class at a city-centre Doncaster studio a few minutes' walk from the station — same price drop-in or block, exact address confirmed when you book.
Do I need street dance or hip-hop first? +
No. Commercial borrows from street styles but the class teaches its own foundations from scratch. Some dancers do both classes and enjoy how differently the two rooms move.
I'm nowhere near music-video standard — is that a problem? +
Nobody in the room is; that is why it is a class. Routines are taught in small blocks with simplified options, and the gap between week one and week six is genuinely startling.
What should I wear and bring? +
Trainers with clean soles, comfortable clothes with some attitude if you fancy it, and water. Knee-friendly floors and no uniform — half the room dances in whatever they wore to work.
Will I be filmed? +
Only if you want to be. Optional end-of-class runs can be filmed on your own phone for your own use — many regulars track their progress that way — but nobody is recorded without asking.
Has anyone from Doncaster actually made it in pop? +
Famously, yes — Louis Tomlinson and Yungblud both grew up here, which our playlist acknowledges regularly. We make no promises about world tours; we do promise you will dance better in a month.
What age range is the class? +
Adults from eighteen to whenever — our current range spans four decades. The choreography scales; the playlist takes requests; the energy is set by the room, not a birth year.
How do I start? +
Book below with the week you want to begin. Arrive early, warm up with us, and by ten past you will be learning the same routine as everyone else.
